Valerie Bertinelli’s Emotional Reunion with Son Wolfie
It’s always heartwarming when loved ones reunite after some time apart, and that’s exactly what happened for celebrity chef Valerie Bertinelli. After spending three months in quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic, she couldn’t help but gush over her sweet reunion with her 29-year-old son, Wolfie. The time apart was tough, but it made their connection even stronger when they finally came together again.
“We didn’t see each other, except for FaceTime, for at least three months, I want to say,” the 60-year-old star told Jenna Bush Hager on Today on August 13. She went on to describe the moment they finally hugged, saying, “It lasted a very, very long time.” But she couldn’t resist adding a little humor to the situation. “Now I want to slug him,” she joked, before clarifying, “No, but I adore him.”

Reconnecting with Family During the Pandemic
Valerie explained how meaningful it was to have her son over for dinner and to watch movies together. “He comes over with his girlfriend, Andrea, and it’s so nice to hug somebody,” she said. “I realized I haven’t hugged anyone besides my husband in like three months.” For Valerie, these moments of connection are more important now than ever before. Her relationship with Wolfie is something she treasures deeply, and the pandemic has only made her appreciate these moments even more.

When Valerie and Wolfie finally met up during the summer, it felt like no time had passed between them. In July, she told Today that her son stopped by on the 4th of July and they even played Animal Crossing, a popular game by Nintendo. “We went to each other’s islands,” the proud mom said, showing just how connected they remain, even through gaming.
Wolfie’s Musical Journey
Valerie shares Wolfgang, affectionately known as Wolfie, with her ex-husband, Eddie Van Halen. Following in his dad’s footsteps, Wolfie decided to pursue a career in music and is currently the bassist for his father’s band, Van Halen. But even when he’s out on the road, Valerie makes sure to check in with her son regularly. “I’ll call him or just say hi … or just to say nothing, just to hear his voice,” the devoted mom previously gushed to Good Housekeeping. “And of course, we FaceTime now more than ever, which I absolutely love.”
