This summer, after months of heartfelt text messages, Patrick Duffy made a bold move. He packed his car and embarked on a 20-hour road trip to Colorado to meet actress Linda Purl in person. "I was so respectful of her space that I even asked for her permission to kiss her," Patrick revealed in a candid interview with Closer Weekly, currently available on newsstands. "We haven’t been apart since that moment," he added with a smile.
The beloved Dallas actor, who lost his wife of 43 years, Carlyn Rosser, in 2017, never imagined himself falling in love again. "I wasn't actively looking for another relationship," Patrick, now 71, confessed. "I thought my life would revolve around being a good father and grandfather. But love found me, and I had to follow where my heart was leading me."

From Text Messages to a Deep Connection
Patrick and Linda, both 65, reconnected earlier this year through a group chat initiated by mutual friends. "At first, it was just a casual way to stay in touch," Patrick explained. "But as time went on, the group chat dwindled down until it was just the two of us. That’s when we really started to bond."

Despite the distance between them, Patrick and Linda formed a deep connection. "Without the usual distractions of dating, like dinner or drinks, we focused on getting to know each other on a profound level," Patrick shared. "By the end of our conversations, we had a genuine understanding of who each other was. I was drawn to Linda's history, her beauty, her heart, and her compassion."
Following Your Heart: Patrick's Advice
Patrick believes that listening to your heart is the key to finding love. "Your head may tell you what's logical, but your heart knows what feels right," he advised. "Ask yourself: Do you look forward to spending time with this person? Do they make you feel alive and excited? If the answer is yes, then trust your instincts and take the leap."
This advice is especially important for seniors like Patrick. "At this stage in life, why not embrace every opportunity for joy?" he questioned. "If your heart tells you something is fun, go for it! Life is too short to ignore those moments. Follow your heart, and you might be surprised where it leads you."
