There’s no doubt that Meghan Markle has always been a champion for doing what’s right, but now, as a mom, her mission has become even more personal. The former Suits star, alongside her husband Prince Harry, is determined to create a brighter future—for their 17-month-old son, Archie. It’s all about making the world a better place for the next generation, and Meghan isn’t holding back when it comes to fighting for her little one.

“I wouldn’t be able to look at myself in the mirror as a mom if I wasn’t actively working to make this world a better place for him,” Meghan said during a heartfelt virtual appearance at Fortune’s “Most Powerful Next Gen Summit” on October 13. At just 39 years old, she’s already proving that being a mother means so much more than just caring for her child—it’s about shaping the world he’ll grow up in.

Every Day Is About Making the World Better for Archie

Meghan opened up about her daily mission to improve the world for her son. “Every single day, I ask myself, ‘How can I make this world better for Archie?’” she shared. “This is something my husband and I deeply believe in. It’s not just about us—it’s about creating a legacy for our child.”

  • When asked how motherhood has changed her perspective on leadership, Meghan revealed that it’s made her even more courageous. “Before Archie, there were things I might have tolerated, but now, as a mom, I can’t let those things slide,” she explained. “I won’t put my child in a position where he’s vulnerable, and that’s driven me to be more outspoken and bold in my actions.”

Concern for the World Archie Will Inherit

Becoming a mom in May 2019 has completely shifted Meghan’s focus. She’s not just thinking about herself anymore; she’s thinking about the world her son will inherit one day. “It’s fascinating how motherhood changes you,” she said. “It makes you more courageous, more driven, and more determined to fight for what’s right. You can’t sit back and hope for the best when you have a child counting on you.”

Meghan admitted that she’s “so concerned” about the state of the world Archie will grow up in, which is why she and Prince Harry are working tirelessly to make a difference. Whether it’s advocating for social justice or encouraging people to vote, they’re committed to leaving a positive mark on the world.

Walking the Tightrope as a Public Figure

Being in the public eye, Meghan is extra cautious about how she communicates her beliefs, especially when it comes to protecting her family. “I have to be very careful about what I say, because I don’t want to put my family at risk,” she admitted. “That’s why I focus on topics that are straightforward and universally important, like voting. It’s one of the simplest yet most powerful ways we can all contribute to change.”

Despite the challenges of being in the spotlight, Meghan and Harry make sure to balance their activism with quality family time. “We love spending time with Archie, doing all the fun, silly things that come with being a parent,” Meghan said at the summit. “He’s such a joy to be around, and watching him grow up is truly special.”

Archie might still be under two years old, but he’s already showing signs of being a bundle of energy. An insider told Closer Weekly in late September, “Archie is such a character! He’s always on the move, full of life, and just adorable.” Another source added that Archie is hitting milestones left and right, thanks to the love and support of his parents. “He’s gotten so big and loves his food! He’s even started walking, which means they’ve had to babyproof the house. But Harry and Meghan feel incredibly blessed to have such a happy, well-behaved little boy.”
