Sharon Osbourne Opens Up About Marie Osmond's Departure

Let’s be real—when you’re part of a show like The Talk, change is inevitable. And that’s exactly what Sharon Osbourne had to say in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. Following the departure of beloved co-host Marie Osmond after the show’s 11th season premiere on September 21, Sharon addressed the evolving dynamic of the panel. With a seasoned perspective, she shared how the team is embracing the new chapter.

“You know, we’ve had a lot of changes over the years. People come and go, and that’s just the nature of the business,” Sharon, 67, explained with a candid smile. “But honestly, with four hosts now, we’ve got more time to dive into the topics we care about. It’s all about going with the flow and making the best of it.”

Adjusting to a New Panel

With Marie Osmond, 60, no longer gracing the stage as a host on the hit CBS daytime show, the lineup now consists of Sharon, Carrie Ann Inaba, Sheryl Underwood, and Eve. While Sharon admits it’s been tough not being able to join Carrie Ann, 52, and Sheryl, 56, in the studio—she and Eve, 41, are still hosting via video call for now—she remains optimistic about the show’s future.

  • “It’s definitely a bummer not being there in person with the girls,” Sharon confessed. “But you know what? We’re making it work. We’re a strong team, and we’ve got some amazing stories to share with our audience. It’s all about adapting and keeping the energy alive.”

Marie Osmond's Decision to Step Down

Marie first joined the star-studded panel in September 2019 after being chosen as co-host months earlier in May. However, just a year later, she announced her exit from the Emmy Award-winning program. In an official statement released in early September, the “Paper Roses” singer revealed her reasons for stepping down.

“My husband and I just dropped our last two kids off at college, and we looked at each other and laughed because we haven’t been this alone together since 1982!” Marie shared with heartfelt humor. “At this stage of my life, I’m really looking forward to spending more time with him and visiting all our kids and grandkids. It’s a new chapter, and I couldn’t be more excited.”

Marie, who is also the proud mom of Stephen, 37, Jessica, 32, Rachael, 31, Brandon, 23, Brianna, 22, and her late son Michael, further expressed her excitement about some upcoming projects. She’s collaborating with former The Talk showrunner and executive producer John Redmann, who also left the show after 10 seasons.

“One of the best parts of my time on The Talk was working with my dear friend John,” Marie gushed. “And guess what? We’re not done yet! I’m thrilled to continue our partnership on some incredible projects that I can’t wait to share with everyone.”
