Marie Osmond's Heartwarming Hobby: Quilting For Her Granddaughters

There's something truly special about a grandma who puts her heart into creating handmade treasures for her grandkids. Marie Osmond, the iconic singer and former host of "The Talk," has been keeping her hands busy during her downtime. She's been crafting beautiful quilts for her two youngest granddaughters, Maude and Mabel. Marie recently shared some adorable photos of the little ones snuggling up with their personalized blankets, and let me tell you, it's pure cuteness overload.

Marie, who turned 61 at the time, posted on Instagram back in December 2020, saying, “Just had to share what I’ve been doing at home. Made these quilted blankets for my sweet granddaughters Maude and Mabel.” Her words radiate warmth and pride, showing just how much she cherishes her role as a grandma.

Quilts with a Personal Touch

In the photos, Maude and Mabel look absolutely adorable cuddling up on their colorful quilts. Since the two girls are close in age, Marie wanted their blankets to have a similar vibe but with distinct differences. "So I chose matching fabrics, but one is dominantly yellow with pink flowers, and the other pink with yellow flowers," she explained in her Instagram post. It's these thoughtful touches that make the quilts extra special.

  • Marie went the extra mile by adding soft pink minky fabric to the reverse sides of the quilts. She even incorporated a traditional bow design to honor the girls' classic names. "I chose the traditional bow design to represent their beautiful traditional names," she shared. It's clear that every detail was carefully considered, making these quilts not just blankets, but family heirlooms.

From Dolls to Grandkids: Marie’s Creative Evolution

The proud grandma couldn't help but share her excitement about the finished products with her Instagram followers. While Marie once spent her creative energy designing dolls, she joked that she's now channeling that passion into creating things for her grandchildren. "Love my grandkids," she sweetly wrote. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and it's impossible not to feel the love radiating from her words.

Marie, who gained fame as a star on "Dancing with the Stars" and as part of the legendary duo "Donny & Marie," is now a loving grandmother to Maude and Mabel through her daughter Brianna Schwep, 23, and son-in-law Dave Schwep. The couple got married in December 2018 and welcomed Maude in May 2019, followed by Mabel in August 2020. Their growing family brings Marie immense joy, even during challenging times like the pandemic.

Marie’s Expanding Family Brings Joy Amidst Challenges

When Brianna and Dave welcomed their second child, Mabel, Marie expressed her overwhelming joy. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, she saw it as a blessing. "Just when all seems lost... something amazing occurs. For me, it's our newest granddaughter," she wrote on Instagram. "Their two daughters’ names, Maude and Mable, are just so joyful! I pray continually for my grandchildren." Her words reflect a deep sense of gratitude and love for her growing family.

In addition to Maude and Mabel, Marie is also "GlamMa" to five other grandchildren. Her son Stephen Craig and his wife Claire Craig have three children: Stephen, 7, Christian, 4, and Maxwell, 2, with another on the way. Her daughter Rachael Krueger and her husband Gabriel Krueger are parents to Rocket Jade, 5, and Wolf, 17 months. It's no wonder Marie feels so fulfilled by her family life. As she once told Closer Weekly, "Nothing comes close in comparison to the blessings I receive from being a mother to my eight children and a grandma."

We can't help but wonder if Marie is planning to create more quilts for her other grandkids. After all, with such a talented grandma, who wouldn't want one of her handmade treasures?
