Nathen's tribute didn’t end there. He went on to say, "You’ll always be with me. Love you more than you will ever know." He described his dad as "the toughest and funniest and smartest person I’ve known." Nathen also expressed gratitude for his dad's ability to "be at peace now," referring to Willie's battle with pancreatic cancer. According to reports, Willie succumbed to the illness after a short but courageous fight.

"At the beginning, you would approach someone at a bar and realize, 'Oh, they want to be Stanford’s best friend,'" Willie revealed. "They don’t necessarily want to sleep with you." It was a fascinating insight into how his iconic role could overshadow his real identity. Willie didn’t want his character to define him, but he also understood the impact it had on his public perception. For years, he didn’t discuss his sexuality openly, fearing how fans of Sex and the City might react.
