Hey there, music fans! Let’s dive into the heartwarming story of Thomas Rhett and his better half, Lauren Akins. Now, here's a love story that could've been written by Thomas himself. These two have been each other's anchors since childhood, and their journey has been nothing short of magical. Their deep-rooted friendship blossomed into a love so profound that it now supports a family celebrating every high and low of Thomas's remarkable country music career. Stick around because this is one tale worth hearing!
Thomas Rhett, the Grammy-nominated singer, shared with Taste of Country back in September 2012 about his whirlwind romance with Lauren. He revealed, “We dated once when we were 15, but things didn’t quite work out. We dated for about six months, and even after we broke up, we stayed best friends. Life went on; we both dated other people for around five years. But when I heard Lauren had ended her other relationship—this was last spring—I knew it was my moment. I made my move, we kissed, and that was it. We dated for probably six months, and by last December, around Christmas time, we were engaged.”

The Perfect Proposal
Thomas swept Lauren off her feet with a romantic proposal that set the tone for their lifelong journey together. Picture this: the couple is in a restaurant, dancing to "The Way You Look Tonight," surrounded by their loved ones. It was a moment that sealed their love story forever. After tying the knot in October 2012, Lauren stepped into Thomas's world, joining him on his world tours as he continued to rock sold-out shows globally.

From Love to Song
Thomas's love for Lauren didn’t stop at marriage; it inspired one of his most romantic songs, "Die a Happy Man." This heartfelt track won almost every award it was nominated for, and the music video, featuring the couple, melted fans' hearts. Their love story wasn’t just confined to the stage; it extended to building a family.
In 2016, Lauren embarked on a mission trip to Uganda, where she met a little girl named Willa at a children's home. Lauren, a nursing school graduate, knew that Willa needed a home. “She was a total orphan and didn’t have any biological relatives, no one. Her life was going to be at the children’s home unless someone else tried to give her a home,” Lauren told People in May 2017. “So I thought, ‘We need to find her a home.’ I thought we’d be the helpers—and then Thomas said, ‘We’ll do it!’”
A Growing Family
While they were in the process of bringing Willa to the U.S., Lauren discovered she was pregnant. They welcomed Willa home from Uganda in May 2017, just a few months before Lauren gave birth to their daughter Ada in August 2017. Their family continued to grow with the birth of their third daughter, Lennon, in February 2020, and their fourth daughter, Lillie, in November 2021.
Thomas has nothing but admiration for Lauren as a mother. “My wife moms with such patience and with such grace without ever asking for anything in return, and I feel like our kids just watch Lauren be superwoman and they want to help her and they want to love on her,” he told E! News in March 2022. “My wife is one of the most loving human beings in the world and has one of the kindest hearts that I know. I’m already starting to see that development in my little girls as well, and that’s one of the things I could not be more proud of.”
