Meet The DeVitos: A Family Affair In The World Of Animation

'Little Demon' TV Review: Danny DeVito Voices the Devil in FXX Comedy

In a world where family dynamics can be both thrilling and challenging, the new animated series Little Demon dives into the quirks of parenting with a supernatural twist. Premiering on FX, the show follows Chrissy, a 13-year-old girl who discovers that her long-lost father is none other than Satan himself. Now, Chrissy finds herself navigating the perils and pleasures of adolescence with a father who’s eager to reconnect. But don’t worry, it’s not all fire and brimstone—there’s plenty of heartwarming humor along the way.

Little Demon is not just any animated series; it's a family affair that brings together the DeVito clan. Legendary actor Danny DeVito, best known for his role in Taxi, lends his voice to the character of Satan. His daughter Lucy DeVito, 39, voices Chrissy, while his son Jake DeVito, 34, serves as an executive producer. At 77, Danny reflects on the show’s connection to real-life family dynamics. “We’ve all been through the wild ride of teenage years,” he says. “Our show really captures those family issues and makes them relatable, even with a supernatural spin.”

Relatable Chaos with a Twist

Though the show features a devilish dad, the DeVitos assure viewers that the heart of Little Demon lies in its authentic portrayal of family life. Lucy emphasizes, “Our show is rooted in our positive relationship as a family. It’s about how kids and parents can be difficult for each other, but love always wins in the end. It’s a two-way street, and we wanted to capture that balance.”

  • Lucy, Jake, and their older sister Grace, 37, are the proud offspring of Danny’s enduring marriage to Cheers alum Rhea Perlman, 74. Rhea, too, will make a guest appearance on the series, bringing her signature charm to the screen. Growing up in the DeVito household meant being surrounded by creativity and love. “Our home was filled with laughter and joy,” Lucy recalls fondly. “We all got along well, and our parents encouraged us to appreciate art and culture from a young age.”

    A Creative Upbringing

Jake reminisces about the unique environment that shaped their childhood. “Our parents introduced us to great movies and concerts. We were lucky to grow up in a house where creativity thrived. Celebrities would drop by regularly, and it was such a normal part of life for us. When It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia began, those guys were practically part of our backyard crew,” he says with a chuckle.

Lucy shares how their upbringing fostered independence and creativity. “Our parents gave us the freedom to explore. If you wanted to try something new, they’d say, ‘Go ahead, but do it safely and with friends around.’ It was all about learning through experience,” she laughs. “I can’t think of anything specific we weren’t allowed to do—it was that kind of supportive environment.”

    Forever a Team

Despite separating in 2017, Danny and Rhea remain close and maintain a strong bond. “Danny and I worked hard to navigate the tough times and create a new kind of relationship,” Rhea explains. “It’s rare, but because we agree on so many things, it makes sense. We’re still very much a family.”

For Danny, being part of Little Demon with his family is a dream come true. “You’ll see that Satan in the show is actually a good guy. He’s just a dad who missed out on raising his daughter,” he jokes. “And, of course, I thought it would be a boy! But hey, I get it—sometimes I can be a real demon.”

While Danny has rarely played a villain in his career, his protective nature shines through when it comes to his family. “Dad’s not one to lose his temper, but if someone messes with us, he’s the first one to step up,” Jake says proudly.
