Sometimes, even the most seasoned pros can find themselves in unexpected situations. On Thursday’s episode of The View, host Joy Behar experienced an unplanned moment when she took a tumble during the show's introduction. Just as she was about to take her seat at the desk, the 79-year-old comedienne found herself unexpectedly landing on the floor in front of the live audience. Talk about making an entrance!
Co-Hosts Rush to Joy's Aid
Joy’s co-hosts, the dynamic trio of Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, and Sunny Hostin, didn’t waste a second. They immediately sprang into action, rushing over to help her back up. Once Joy was safely back on her feet, the audience erupted in cheers, showing their support and admiration for her resilience. With a laugh and a smile, Joy brushed herself off, proving that she's as quick-witted as ever. A member of the production team even stepped in to assist her when she went to sit down the second time, ensuring her chair was secure.
Joy’s Witty Comeback and the Show Must Go On
Once everyone was seated, Whoopi quipped, “These chairs move and you touch it, and you’re on the ground!” Joy, ever the comedian, shot back with her signature humor, saying, “25 years, that has never happened to me. Who do I sue?” The room filled with laughter as the team continued to share laughs about the incident, lightening the mood and keeping things entertaining for the audience. It's moments like these that remind us why we love this show.

Joy, known for her comedic timing and quick thinking, explained that she "went flying" and joked that her husband, Steve Janowitz, was probably "home laughing." She admitted that she had "missed the step," which led to her unexpected fall. The audience couldn’t help but show their love, with one fan shouting, "We love you, Joy!" Her co-hosts were also quick to offer their support, agreeing that the chairs they sit on are indeed quite high off the ground. After reassuring everyone that she was okay, the show carried on as planned.
Joy Addresses the Serious Side of Falls
Later in the episode, the Emmy-winning host addressed the incident again, this time with a more serious tone. She took the opportunity to remind viewers about the potential dangers of falls, particularly those that involve hitting your head. Joy referenced the tragic death of Bob Saget, who suffered from head trauma after falling in his hotel room in January 2022.
“Well, you know, I fall a lot. The main thing, just to talk seriously, when Bob Saget fell, he died. If you hit your head and you feel dizzy or you have blurred vision or you feel like you want to go to sleep, go to the doctor because that can be deadly,” Joy said earnestly. “But I’ve fallen a lot. I fall all the time. I’m a klutz! But this chair, this chair was like something out of The Exorcist. It was spring-loaded!”
