Savannah Guthrie has finally spilled the tea on the wild night she lost a tooth during a fun-filled evening with her Today show co-stars. In a recent appearance, she gave fans the inside scoop on what really went down.
For those who may have forgotten, Savannah, now 52, first revealed this shocking story back in May when she told People magazine about losing her tooth at the Today show Christmas party. She joked about it, saying the tooth was likely still at the Pebble Bar, referring to the famous New York City spot where the party took place. But what exactly happened that night?
Co-Host Jenna Bush Hager Reacts to Savannah’s Tooth Mystery
When Jenna Bush Hager first heard the news, she was floored. “You lost your tooth? Savannah, are you joking?” Jenna exclaimed, clearly in disbelief. She went on to express how she felt betrayed, comparing it to the way she felt after the Polar Plunge. “I feel deceived. I feel deceived by you. She tried to blame the wildness on me!” Jenna hilariously added, making it clear she didn't take the blame lightly.

But it wasn’t until July 9, when Savannah appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen alongside Hoda Kotb, that the full story came out. Andy, known for his knack for extracting juicy details, didn’t disappoint this time around.
The Real Story Behind the Missing Tooth
Savannah explained that the infamous incident happened at the Christmas party, which, as everyone knows, starts early and involves plenty of day drinking. “It did happen. That was the Christmas party, which when you’re at the Today show Christmas party, it starts at, like, 3 p.m. A lot of day drinking,” Savannah revealed with a laugh.
She continued, “The next thing I know, the morning I wake up, I’m like, ‘I feel like something’s missing.’ It was, like, a molar.” Savannah described the moment she realized something was off in her jaw. “I was like, ‘Where is it?’ And they were like, ‘Maybe it’s at the Pebble Bar.’ It was gone.”
Other co-hosts, including Jenna Bush Hager, Sheinelle Jones, and Dylan Dreyer, were all there that night, enjoying the festivities.

Savannah’s Delayed Trip to the Dentist
Surprisingly, Savannah didn’t rush to the dentist right away to fix the missing tooth. “She let it go for longer than weeks! I was like, ‘Go to the dentist,’” Hoda Kotb, 59, recalled with a laugh. Savannah defended herself, explaining, “You couldn’t see it. It was a molar!”
In other news, Today host Craig Melvin appeared on Watch What Happens Live on June 19 and shared some interesting tidbits about his co-workers. He revealed that Al Roker takes the longest in hair and makeup, and Carson Daly is usually the first to leave the set after filming each day.

Savannah and Hoda’s New Cellphone Ban on the Today Show
Recently, Savannah and Hoda made waves by announcing a significant change on the Today show set – they're banning the use of cellphones during filming. “Now take a look at that,” Savannah said during a June 18 episode. “That is a basket of our cellphones. We decided to toss them in that basket for the whole show this morning. We were talking about our conversation with the Surgeon General, who wants a warning label on social media.”
She added, “Every parent knows their kids are dying for the smartphones and every parent knows we’re as addicted as anyone else.” Hoda chimed in, “We’ve had 30 minutes so far. Usually in commercial breaks, we’re taking care of our kids’ logistics but we’re feeling good.”
