Harrison Ford Keeps the Momentum Going
At an age when many actors would be slowing down, Harrison Ford is doing anything but. The legendary star of Raiders of the Lost Ark recently made a cryptic comment about retirement at the red carpet premiere of the second season of his hit Yellowstone prequel series, 1923. Ford, who turns 82 this year, seems to have no plans to step away from the limelight anytime soon. Instead, he’s diving headfirst into some of the most exciting projects of his career.
When Entertainment Tonight reporter Cassie Dilaura asked the Hollywood icon, “When will you know it’s time to take a step back and just hang out at home with your beautiful wife,” referring to his wife Calista Flockhart, Ford quipped, “When you forget my name.” With a career as iconic as his, it’s clear that Harrison Ford’s name isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Busier Than Ever: Harrison Ford’s Packed Schedule
There’s no denying that Harrison Ford is busier than ever. From starring in Paramount+’s 1923 to showcasing his comedic side in Apple TV+’s Shrinking, Ford is proving that age is just a number. He’s also making a splash on the big screen in Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World. It’s a workload that would challenge even the youngest of actors, but Ford seems to be thriving under the pressure.

During an interview with ET, Ford admitted that this phase of his career feels a little overwhelming. “It’s stupid… I’m a little but too everywhere for my sensibilities,” he confessed. However, he explained that the quality of the scripts he’s been offered has been too good to pass up. “I ran into a vein of really good writing, and I thought I’d take advantage of it. I’m really… I’m glad I did. But it’s kind of crazy,” he admitted.
Jacob Dutton Returns in Season 2 of '1923'
In the much-anticipated second season of 1923, Harrison Ford reprises his role as Jacob Dutton, the ancestor of Yellowstone’s John Dutton III. This time, he’s joined by Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren, who plays his wife, Cara Dutton. Fans of the series are eagerly anticipating the premiere on February 23, as the second season will also mark the end of the show.
The series was created by Yellowstone co-creator and writer Taylor Sheridan, who is married to Helen Mirren. When asked about the possibility of continuing the 1923 story beyond its planned conclusion, Ford playfully responded, “I just work here. Taylor tells me when he’s got a story.” Clearly, the decision lies in the hands of the creative team, but fans are hopeful for more adventures with the Dutton family.

Reflecting on His Career
When asked about the emotional finale of 1923, Ford admitted that he hasn’t seen it yet. However, he expressed confidence in the strength of the season, saying, “I was there and it’s great. It’s very strong… It’s a very strong season.” Clearly, the actor takes pride in the work he’s done on the series.
Ford’s gratitude for his long and illustrious career was on full display when he received the Career Achievement Award at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. Speaking to the crowd, he said, “I’m really happy to be here tonight, to see what our business is turning into and all of the talented people who are getting opportunities that probably would not have existed in the early part of my career. I’m very happy about that.”
