Kathie Lee Gifford recently gave fans a glimpse into her cherished family moments with an adorable video featuring her son Cody and grandson Frank. Life has certainly taken a joyful turn for Kathie Lee. In May 2022, she embraced the role of grandma for the first time. Now, she’s eagerly preparing for two more additions to the family. Cody and his wife, Erika, are expecting another baby this winter, while her daughter Cassidy and her husband Ben are welcoming their first child this month. “It’s like a dream come true,” Kathie Lee, now 69, says with a smile. As “Bubbe” to little Frank, she’s counting down the days to meet her new grandbabies. “She’s absolutely glowing,” confides a close friend. “It’s like she’s living in a perpetual state of gratitude.”
Despite the excitement, Kathie Lee remains grounded and thoughtful about her role as a grandmother. “This isn’t about me—it’s all about them,” she emphasizes. Her priority is to be a supportive presence in her children’s lives without overstepping. “Parenting is hard enough. The last thing they need is their mom adding guilt or pressure,” she explains. Instead, she focuses on creating joyful, carefree memories. “Laugh with them, dream with them, and let them know they’re not alone,” she advises. It’s this approach that has endeared her to her family and fans alike.

Embracing New Adventures
Life hasn’t always been easy for Kathie Lee. In 2015, she lost her beloved husband, NFL legend Frank Gifford, leaving her heartbroken. But instead of letting grief define her, she chose to move forward with courage. In 2019, she made the bold decision to gift her longtime family home in the Northeast to Cody and relocate to Nashville for a fresh start. “Grief is part of life, but it doesn’t have to consume you,” she reflects. “God wants us to heal and grow, not stay stuck in sorrow.”
In Nashville, Kathie Lee found love again with businessman Richard Spitz. The couple has been together for about two years, and their relationship continues to thrive. Richard, who bought the house next door to hers in 2020, shares her passions for faith, family, and Southern living. “They’re such a great match,” says a mutual friend. “Richard understands her heart and supports her in everything she does.” Though they briefly took a step back from each other last April, their bond proved unbreakable. “Kathie Lee just needed a moment to process how serious things were getting,” explains the friend. “But Richard’s kindness and patience won her over. Plus, her kids adore him. They joke that she might wear the pants, but he’s the one running the show!”
A Renewed Focus on Faith and Creativity
While family remains at the center of her life, Kathie Lee hasn’t neglected her creative pursuits. She’s always juggling multiple projects, from writing music and screenplays to working on faith-based initiatives. “Showbiz is unpredictable, but I’ve learned not to stress about it,” she says with wisdom. “Everything is in God’s hands, and that brings me peace.”
One of her most meaningful projects is The God of His Word, a streaming Bible study series she created with Rabbi Jason Sobel, co-author of her 2022 book The God of the Way. Through this series, she hopes to inspire others to deepen their relationship with God. “I want people to realize that faith isn’t something to fear—it’s something to celebrate,” she explains passionately. “God’s love is available to everyone, no matter where they are in life.”
For Kathie Lee, faith isn’t just a belief system—it’s a way of life. “We all have limited time on this earth, so we should make every moment count,” she reflects. “That means living with purpose, joy, and gratitude. When you do that, everything else falls into place.”
