There’s nothing quite like a family that shares a love for design! HGTV star Jenny Marrs has taken her passion for home decor and passed it on to her five kids. “It’s all about giving them their own space,” Jenny, the host of Fixer to Fabulous, exclusively tells Closer. “I want them to be creative and express themselves in their rooms.”

Jenny, 44, explains that she lets her kids take the lead when it comes to decorating their own spaces. “They’ve done everything from choosing bedding colors to creating artwork that they proudly display on their walls,” she says. “They’re in charge of their space, which means they also have to keep it clean, but it’s all about empowering them to manage their own little world.”

Creating a Personalized Space for Every Child

Jenny, who shares her five children—Nathan, Ben, Sylvie, Charlotte, and Luke—with her husband, Dave Marrs, 42, believes that a bedroom should be more than just a place to sleep. “It should be a sanctuary,” she says. “Each of my kids has been able to express their unique personalities through their room decor.”

  • For example, their youngest daughter, Charlotte, 8, has turned her room into a mini horse arena. “She’s completely serious about it,” Jenny laughs. “She has miniature horses set up, and I let her keep them out because it’s something she truly loves. It’s her space, and I want her to feel free to express herself.”

    Design Tips for Better Sleep

Through her partnership with Natrol, a leading supplement brand, and Walmart, Jenny is sharing her expertise on creating a peaceful and serene bedroom environment. “Sleep is so important, and your bedroom should reflect that,” she explains. “When designing your space, think about what promotes relaxation and rest.”

Jenny suggests starting with a calming color palette. “You want your bedroom to feel like a retreat, so choose colors that soothe you,” she advises. “Symmetry and harmony also play a big role. Having matching nightstands and lamps on either side of your bed can make a huge difference. And don’t forget cozy bedding—it’s essential for feeling comfortable and relaxed.”

Handcrafted Touches in Her Own Home

In her Bentonville, Arkansas, farmhouse, Jenny treasures the unique pieces crafted by her husband, Dave. “He’s built everything in our home—our beds, nightstands, even the kids’ furniture,” she says. “Each piece has meaning, and it adds a special touch to our bedrooms. I’m incredibly lucky to have such talented furniture made by Dave.”

Jenny adds that incorporating personal touches, whether it’s handmade furniture or sentimental items, can make a bedroom feel more inviting and personal. “It’s all about creating a space where you feel at peace,” she concludes. “And sometimes, that means adding a little something extra, like melatonin gummies in my nightstand for those nights when I need a bit of extra support.”
