Months before announcing her pregnancy, Lindsay Arnold, star of "Dancing With the Stars," revealed she and her husband, Samuel Cusick, were aligned on the idea of starting a family. This revelation came long before the world knew they were expecting their first child. Lindsay, just 25 years old, shared her thoughts with Closer Weekly in late January, expressing how excited they both were about this new chapter.
“We're both on the same page about having kids,” Lindsay said, her excitement evident. “It's not something we've had to debate or stress over. It's just been a natural part of our plans as a couple.” The couple, who've been together since high school and married in 2015, seemed ready to embrace this next big step.
A Beautiful Journey to Motherhood

Planning Parenthood Around a Busy Career
Even with their clear plans to become parents, Lindsay wasn’t in a rush to dive right in. Despite the pressures she faced from well-meaning friends and family telling her to hold off, she felt confident in her decision to start a family now. “People kept telling me, ‘Don’t get pregnant yet, you have time,’” Lindsay admitted. But she didn’t fully agree. “Yes, I have time to focus on my career, but I also have time to embrace motherhood and pursue what I want in life,” she countered. Lindsay believed that pregnancy wouldn’t necessarily halt her career, contrary to what some might assume.

To balance her demanding schedule with her aspirations to become a mom, Lindsay and Sam devised a plan to time her pregnancy around her commitments to "Dancing With the Stars." “We wanted to make sure everything lined up just right,” she explained. It seems their timing couldn’t have been better, as the global pandemic led to the cancellation of the "Dancing With the Stars Live Tour: 2020," allowing Lindsay to stay home with Sam during this special time.

Breaking the News
For Lindsay, the joy of sharing her pregnancy news was almost as thrilling as the pregnancy itself. She jokingly mentioned how tired she was of people asking when she’d start a family. “They’d always ask, ‘When are you going to have a baby?’” Lindsay said with a laugh. “And I’d just tell them to leave me alone!” But when the time came, she couldn’t have been happier to announce the news. In mid-May, Lindsay shared photos of herself sitting on Sam’s lap, holding up their baby’s ultrasound. “Ohhhhhh baby. Mom and Dad love you already,” she wrote in the caption, setting the due date for November 2020.
The announcement sparked an outpouring of love and support from fans and fellow "Dancing With the Stars" castmates alike. Jenna Johnson couldn’t contain her excitement, exclaiming, “I LOVE THIS BABY SOOOOOOO MUCH ALREADY!!!!! Auntie Jenna is waiting to meet you sweet little angel baby.” Meanwhile, new mom Karina Smirnoff chimed in with, “Oh, honey! This is soooo awesome! Congratulations! Love you! You will be an incredible momma!”
