Preparing for Change
Joanna and Chip, who is now 48, originally purchased their 1,700-square-foot farmhouse back in 2012. Over the years, this home has been the backdrop for countless cherished moments with their children. However, as life moves forward, they’re preparing for a significant change this fall. Their eldest son, Drake, is getting ready to head off to college. Joanna opened up about this emotional milestone in an August 2022 post, expressing both pride and sadness.
“Soon, our oldest son, Drake, will be leaving home for college,” Joanna wrote. “While this is a moment filled with gratitude and excitement, it’s also bittersweet. Watching my first child move into the next chapter of life is a profound experience. I often find myself imagining what this new phase will look like and how it will impact our family dynamic.”

Joanna couldn’t hide her emotions when she watched Drake graduate from high school in late May. She reflected on the journey, writing, “It feels like just yesterday that we were cheering him on as he took his first steps … but last weekend, as he walked across the stage to receive his high school diploma, we were cheering him on as he took his first steps into a world beyond what he’s known.” She concluded her heartfelt message by expressing her immense pride in her son, Drake.
