Let me tell you something truly heartwarming. Joanna Gaines, the queen of all things cozy and charming, has found her perfect gardening partner in her youngest son, Crew Gaines. These two are practically inseparable when it comes to nurturing their backyard oasis in Waco, Texas. Joanna, who is a host on the Magnolia Network, recently took to Instagram to share just how much joy this shared activity brings her. "My favorite thing to do when we get home from a trip is check the garden with Crew," Joanna, 45, wrote in a caption for a recent video. "So many changes in just a week. Butterflies dancing and apples and tomatoes growing!"
Mom and Son: A Garden-Filled Bond
It’s clear that this isn’t the first time Joanna has shown off her little gardening buddy. Crew, who’s just 5 years old, has already become a star on Joanna’s Instagram. His cute commentary and adorable way of taking care of the plants have won over countless fans. From tending to the greenhouse to marveling at the growth of their crops, this little guy is every bit as passionate about gardening as his mom. It’s a beautiful bond that shines through in every post.
Family Adventures and Garden Returns
Just before diving back into their gardening adventures, the Gaines family had a magical getaway in Mexico. They spent their days soaking up the sun by the beach and the pool, exploring local spots, and making unforgettable memories. Joanna and her husband, Chip Gaines, are proud parents to five amazing kids: Drake, Ella Rose, Duke, Emmie Kay, and of course, Crew. But once they returned home, it was back to the garden, where Crew’s excitement for the plants never wanes.

Capturing Spring's Beauty
Back in February, Joanna shared a delightful carousel of photos on Instagram. In these images, Crew was seen happily picking some of the vibrant flowers in their garden to create a small bouquet. "Crew is very happy to report that the wait is finally over, and the daffodils, anemones, and tulips have all started to come up!" Joanna captioned the post. She added, "He loves to ‘pet and smell’ them. We can’t wait for the spring garden to be in full bloom." Now that the garden is bursting with life, you can bet Joanna and her kids will be spending even more time outdoors, enjoying the fruits of their labor.
Evening Rituals and Strawberry Temptations
In March 2022, Joanna shared a sweet video of Crew saying goodnight to his plants before the sun set. "Before the sun sets, he tells his little plants goodnight and to not let the (bed) bugs bite!" she gushed over her tender-hearted son. And let’s not forget the time Joanna posted pictures of the strawberries they grew in the garden. Crew, always the curious one, couldn’t resist sampling them. "This is Crew’s version of quality control," Joanna joked in the caption for those photos, which were taken back in April 2020.
