Hosting Holidays in Their Dream Home

“Let me tell you something—I’m way too excited about hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas this year,” Ree confessed in her latest post. “After bouncing around from house to house for a few years, Ladd and I finally finished building our dream home. I’ve been planning the menus and grocery shopping like a pro. In fact, I may have started setting out plates and napkins a little earlier than usual—like six weeks ahead of time. Am I overdoing it? Probably. But can you blame me? I’m just so pumped about having everyone together again!”

For Ree, the holidays aren’t just about food; they’re about connection, love, and creating lasting memories. She’s ready to roll up her sleeves, fire up the oven, and make this holiday season one to remember.

Why They Left the Famous Farmhouse Behind

In May 2022, Ree and Ladd made the difficult decision to leave their iconic Oklahoma farmhouse behind. The home, which had been in Ladd’s family for four generations, had seen better days. Structural issues and ongoing repairs had become overwhelming, leading the couple to start fresh on their ranch property.

“That farmhouse wasn’t just old—it was ancient,” Ree joked to People magazine. “We adored raising our kids there, but it came with its fair share of problems. The foundation was crumbling, and fixing it would’ve been a massive undertaking. It was time to build something new, something that reflected where we are in life right now.”

Thankfully, the move wasn’t far. Ree and Ladd stayed close to home by building their new residence on the same ranch property. “This year marks a special milestone for us,” Ree wrote in a November 19 blog post. “For the first time in years, we’ll celebrate Thanksgiving in our new home. Last year was bittersweet—we lost my father-in-law, Chuck, shortly before the holiday, so we held the meal at his house instead. It felt right to honor him that way. But this year, we’re back home, surrounded by family. There’s nothing quite like gathering everyone under one roof and making memories that will last a lifetime.”
