When life hands you a fresh start, why not celebrate it with a new chapter? That's exactly what Mina Starsiak Hawk, the beloved star of HGTV's Good Bones, is doing. Recently, she unveiled the completion of renovations on her stunning new lake house. For Mina, this isn't just about flipping a house—it's about creating a space that feels like home.
In a candid Instagram Story shared on Thursday, January 25, Mina, 39, gave her fans a sneak peek into the exciting world of her newly renovated lake house. "So, the lake house is done," she announced with excitement. "Today and tomorrow are reveal days, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share this journey with you!"
Back in October 2023, Mina first hinted at the purchase of this vacation home during an episode of her "Mina AF" podcast. She shared the news with her husband, Steve Hawk, by her side. "Steve and I have been casually looking for about three years," she revealed. "This new dream is something I’ve really poured my heart into, especially since I’ve had to let go of other dreams along the way."

Renovating in Phases: Mina's Financially Smart Approach
Mina wasn’t shy about the challenges she faced during the renovation process. Financial concerns led her to break the project into two phases, but she didn’t let that dampen her spirits. Instead, she leaned on her incredible support system, which included a couple of familiar faces from Good Bones. The project was even filmed for a two-episode spinoff show on HGTV.
"The first phase of the renovation is being captured for the spinoff, and so far, it’s been an absolute blast," Mina explained. "Steve’s been super involved, the kids are loving every minute of it, and even MJ Coyle and Austin Aynes have pitched in with the demo work. It’s brought me back to those early days when everything felt fresh and joyful. It’s been such a wonderful experience."

Rebuilding Relationships Through Renovations
While MJ and Austin were happy to lend a hand, Mina has kept her distance from other former Good Bones cast members, including her mom Karen E. Laine, brother Tad Starsiak, and project manager Cory Miller, following the tension-filled final season. Mina joked during her podcast that MJ was the one person who wasn’t upset with her after filming wrapped. "I’m working on the lake house, and MJ pops in occasionally to help out with the demo," she said. "He’s always willing to jump in and try new things. If any future projects come up, MJ is definitely someone I’d want to collaborate with again."
MJ himself weighed in on the aftermath of the show's eighth season during a guest appearance on "Mina AF." He admitted he wasn’t surprised by Mina’s decision to end the series, given the mounting tensions. "There’s no part of me that didn’t see that decision coming," he said. "It was the right move for everyone involved."
