Hey there, friends! So, Mina Starsiak Hawk, the beloved HGTV star, recently opened up about the rollercoaster that was 2023 during her "Mina AF" podcast episode on January 23. She wasn’t shy about calling it a “crapshoot.” But here’s the thing—Mina’s looking forward to a brighter 2024. She’s confident this year will bring improvements in every area of her life, and she’s ready to make it her year. That’s the spirit!
Now, during this episode, which she hosted alongside her husband, Steve Hawk, Mina went into detail about how she’s feeling these days. “There’s going to be so much free mental space,” the 39-year-old shared. “There’s going to be time for all the thoughts and all the things. … It’s going to be great.” Can you feel the optimism? It’s like she’s already cleared out the clutter and is ready to take on the world. And honestly, who couldn’t use a little more mental space, right?
2023: A Year of Challenges and Reflections
Let’s rewind to 2023 for a moment. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for Mina. She made headlines when she announced the end of "Good Bones," a show that had been a huge part of her life. Along with that, she revealed some rocky patches in her relationship with her mom, Karen E. Laine, and even shared details about a disagreement with her brother, Tad Starsiak. If that wasn’t enough, Mina later confessed she was “not on speaking terms” with "Good Bones" co-star Cory Miller. Talk about a whirlwind!

And let’s not forget the holidays. Sources close to Mina told Closer that the festive season wasn’t exactly merry for her. “The holidays were miserable,” an insider revealed after Mina spent Christmas with some family members. It’s tough enough dealing with family drama, but add in the stress of wrapping up filming for season 8 of "Good Bones," and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a challenging time.
Business Adjustments and a Fresh Start
With all the personal and professional stress piling up, Mina decided to make some significant changes to her business ventures. She downsized her Two Chicks and a Hammer team and even closed her flagship Two Chicks District Co. store in Bates-Hendricks, Indiana. It’s not an easy decision, but sometimes, you’ve got to let go of one thing to make room for something better.

A New Chapter in Noblesville
But here’s the good news—2024 is already shaping up to be a year of new beginnings for Mina. She’s set to open a brand-new Two Chicks District Co. retail location in Noblesville, Indiana, in March. Isn’t that exciting? Mina spoke about her decision to relocate her business during an interview with People in December 2023. “They’re just doing it really well and want that growth and development, which Indianapolis says they want, but then the actual logistics behind it are impossible for my side of a business,” she explained. “Finding this place that really wants us to come and is making it comfortable and welcoming and easy to come to feels kind of like a nice fresh start.”
And if that wasn’t enough, Mina also hinted at some exciting renovation projects on the horizon in Noblesville. “There’s so many cool Queen Anne Victorians,” she said, sharing her excitement about the local architecture. “There was one that I kind of had my eye on that’s like a block off the square that’s just a mess, which is perfect to me.” It sounds like Mina’s ready to roll up her sleeves and dive into some new projects, and we can’t wait to see what she creates next.
