Let’s talk about Kelly Ripa, the queen of daytime television. On a recent episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, Kelly showed us all why she's such a beloved figure. She was chatting about the much-talked-about Barbie movie with her husband and cohost, Mark Consuelos, when things got a little interesting. During the Tuesday, December 26 episode, Kelly made a comment that needed some quick clarification from a producer. It just goes to show, even the pros can have a slip-up!
Now, Kelly Ripa, who's 53 years old, isn’t one to shy away from a good laugh. She said, “I love adult toys,” which, of course, set the audience into a fit of giggles. Kelly quickly jumped in to clarify, explaining that she was talking about collectible Barbie trinkets. “You know what I mean!” she exclaimed. But the producer wasn’t taking any chances. He chimed in loudly to the audience, “Kelly loves toys!” It was one of those moments where you can’t help but smile.
Collectible Barbie Items Have a Special Place in Kelly’s Heart
Continuing her conversation, Kelly elaborated on her appreciation for these collector’s items. “I appreciate them so much more when they are given to me as an adult,” she said. Reflecting on her younger self, Kelly humorously remarked, “Before, if someone gave me a Diane von Furstenburg Barbie as a child, I would have cut off her hair, I would have taken off the wrap dress, I would have wrapped her in toilet tissue, given her weird makeup.” And that’s when Mark, who's 52, playfully added, “And set her on fire.” While Kate McKinnon might have found Kelly’s take on Weird Barbie hilarious, Mark was clearly having fun with the banter too.

Kelly and Mark’s Playful Relationship
If Kelly had decided to discuss adult toys in a more risqué context, it wouldn’t have been entirely unexpected. After all, Kelly and Mark have shared countless stories about their love life, their quirky showering habits, and even how they avoid intimate moments with each other. In fact, during the October 20 episode of Live, Kelly shared a story that had the audience in stitches. She mentioned that she sometimes fakes her own death to avoid having sex with Mark. Using female frogs as an example, Kelly said, “Let me just say they learned that from us.”
Mark, always ready to join the fun, chimed in and told the audience that he has a handheld mirror on his side of the bed. He holds it up to Kelly’s face “to see if she’s breathing” when she’s “faking her own death.” “If it fogs up, it’s going to be a nice Friday night,” he joked, leaving the audience both surprised and entertained.
Kelly wasn’t done yet. She continued, “That’s why I’ve learned to hold my breath for seven to 18 minutes!” She added with a playful smirk, “He thinks I’m dead constantly!” Mark retaliated by sharing a study about amphibians “taking ghosting to the next level” by playing dead to avoid unwanted male interaction. Kelly, seizing the moment, said that a female frog will “stretch out her arms and legs and act as if she were dead.” “I got to try that one,” she said, before concluding that the entire segment was “so gross.”
