How Did Sinbad's Health Take a Turn?
Sinbad, the man behind unforgettable characters and laugh-out-loud moments, continued to shine even in recent years. He was a key player on the series Rel from 2018 to 2019. Not only did he excel in front of the camera, but he also kept audiences entertained with his stand-up performances. However, in November 2020, his family broke the news on Instagram that the beloved Planes actor had suffered a stroke.
To keep fans updated, his family created a dedicated website where people could follow his recovery progress. Sinbad, a devoted father to Paige and Royce with his wife, Meredith Adkins, faced a major health crisis on October 25, 2020. That day, he was rushed to West Hills Medical Center in Los Angeles after suffering an ischemic stroke. According to the website, this type of stroke occurs when a blood vessel supplying blood to the brain is blocked by a clot.

Doctors performed emergency surgery to remove a blood clot that had formed in his heart and traveled to his brain. At first, the prognosis seemed positive as blood flow was successfully restored to his brain. Unfortunately, the very next day, another clot formed, forcing doctors to repeat the surgery. Afterward, Sinbad was transferred to Cedar Sinai Medical Center, where he faced complications, including brain swelling.
To address the swelling, surgeons performed a craniotomy, a procedure involving cutting an opening into the skull to relieve pressure. During the surgery, Sinbad experienced bleeding and other complications, which led to his placement in the ICU under a medically induced coma with the help of a ventilator. Over the following months, he slowly began to show signs of improvement. His family was overjoyed when he opened his eyes and eventually came off the ventilator. However, they soon realized that he had lost mobility on his left side and struggled even to hold his head up.
Where Is Sinbad Today?
In May 2021, Sinbad entered the California Rehabilitation Institute to undergo intensive therapy aimed at helping him regain strength and mobility. After nine long months in the hospital and multiple surgeries, he was finally able to return home in July 2021. His journey continues to inspire as his family shared an uplifting photo on Instagram in November 2022, showing Sinbad learning to walk again with the assistance of a walker.
