Despite the show wrapping up after its eighth season, fans were thrilled to catch a glimpse of Tad Starsiak and Austin Aynes hanging out in a recent Instagram video. It’s proof that even though the show has ended, their friendship is still alive and well, and that's something we can all cheer about!
On January 23, Tad, 30, shared a post on Instagram where he dished out some sage advice about recognizing the signs of burnout. In one of the clips, he was sitting side by side with Austin, 31, at a cozy little table, both hard at work on their laptops. It was a sweet moment that reminded fans of their days working together on Good Bones, and it gave everyone a little boost of hope that their bond is still as strong as ever.
Tad captioned the post with a thoughtful message: “These could be your signs that you’re burning out. Hopefully, this helps you become aware of them and you know when to stop and take a break to recover.” It’s advice we can all use, especially in today’s fast-paced world. But for many fans, the real highlight was seeing Austin, who has been pretty quiet since Good Bones wrapped up in October 2023.

Austin's New Chapter
A lot has changed since the final episode aired. Austin is no longer working for Tad’s sister, Mina Starsiak Hawk, and her Two Chicks and a Hammer company. Instead, he’s found a new home with Tad’s Indianapolis-based construction and consulting company, The Hammer. This shift came about after a bit of a falling out between Tad and Mina. At the same time, Mina was looking to streamline her team, which meant some changes were inevitable.
Mina's Perspective
During an episode of her podcast, “Mina AF,” Mina opened up about the transition. She explained, “I wanted to try to find a soft landing space for as many people on my team as I could. One of the things that I did because Tad does have his own company is that I reached out to him and said two of the people on the team, Austin being one of them, I’m not in a position where I can maintain a large team anymore. I would like to be able to go to them with an option when I go to them and say, ‘I can’t maintain you anymore.’ That worked. Tad said, ‘Yes, I have room on my team,’ and he actually took on Austin, who is an amazing employee, as well as another one of my employees.”
Since the series finale aired, Austin’s Instagram presence has been pretty low-key. But before he stepped away from the spotlight, he took a moment to thank the fans for their support. In a heartfelt message, he wrote, “Thank you all for watching. It feels like a blur. Y’all saw me go from fresh out of college to turning 31 in two weeks. I hope you all had fun along the way. Thanks to all the work friends I’ve made along the way, thank you to the production staff for all you did, thank you to @hgtv for putting us in people’s TVs all these Tuesday nights.”
