I wake up feeling like a king,” Dick told People during an interview on his birthday, December 13. “She takes such good care of me, and I feel so lucky to have her in my life. Dick’s journey with Arlene began in 2007 at the SAG Awards, where their paths crossed for the very first time. “I remember walking up to her and saying, ‘Hi, I’m Dick.’ I had no idea how I mustered up the courage to do it, but I’m so glad I did,” Dick recalled with a chuckle. “We hit it off instantly, and before we knew it, we were planning our future together.”

When asked about what makes Arlene so special, Dick’s eyes light up. “She sings like an angel, and she dances with such grace. We’ve performed duets together, and honestly, she’s the best partner I’ve ever had. She brings so much joy into my life,” he said. “Every moment with her feels like a celebration. Dick’s life and legacy will be honored in an upcoming special titled Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic, airing on CBS on December 21. In a behind-the-scenes clip shared by photographer Laura Johansen on Instagram, Dick can be heard showering Arlene with compliments. “You look like a movie star,” he told her, to which someone off-screen quipped, “Doesn’t she?” Dick laughed and replied, “I saw her first!”
Disneyland Dates and Disney Memories
As if their love story wasn’t sweet enough, the couple was recently spotted enjoying a romantic date at Disneyland on October 2. Fans captured videos of Dick waving to the crowd from a balcony in Disney’s New Orleans Square. Interestingly, eight years earlier, Dick stood in the exact same spot as Disney guests serenaded him with “Happy Birthday” to celebrate his 90th birthday.
