Jenny McCarthy Wants Her Son Evan To Stay Home Forever

Jenny McCarthy is all about family togetherness! The vivacious Masked Singer judge recently opened up about her heartwarming desire to keep her son, Evan, living at home forever. In an exclusive interview with People, she expressed her feelings in her signature candid style.

Evan McCarthy Moves Back Home

“I keep telling Evan, ‘I want you to live with me forever! I absolutely love having you here,’” Jenny, who's 51, told People in a March 27 interview. For Jenny, having her son around isn't just about convenience—it's about cherishing every moment with her beloved child. Evan, now 21, recently moved back home with his mom and stepdad, Donnie Wahlberg, after finishing college. While Jenny dreams of a future where Evan stays close, the young man has his own plans.

“He keeps telling me, ‘I’ll give you two years,’” Jenny joked to the magazine. “I’m like, ‘Thanks, buddy.’” It’s clear that while Jenny hopes Evan sticks around, she's also embracing the time they have together now.

Evan's New Job on The Masked Singer

Jenny revealed that Evan landed a job as a production assistant on The Masked Singer, the hit show where she serves as a judge. This new role has been transformative for both Evan and Jenny. “Having Evan around has been a game-changer for him and now for me because I get to see him be so proud and confident from doing a good job,” Jenny shared with Access Hollywood last October.

Evan's responsibilities on the show range from hyping up the audience to assisting backstage, making him an integral part of the production team. His mom couldn't be prouder of his work ethic and charm. “He’s such a people person, they all fell in love with him. Everyone’s like, ‘Oh my God, he’s the sweetest,’” Jenny gushed during a September 2023 appearance on Today With Hoda & Jenna. She added, “They gave him a walkie-talkie with an earpiece and he’s like, ‘I look so professional.’ He’s like, ‘I’m protecting you on set, mom. If anything happens, I’ve got you.’”

In addition to Evan, whom she shares with her ex-husband John Asher, Jenny is also a loving stepmom to Donnie’s two older sons, Xavier and Elijah, from his marriage to Kimberly Fey. Donnie, 54, couldn’t be more grateful for how Jenny has embraced his children as her own. “Besides being the best wife that I could have ever imagined having, she’s also the best stepmom and mother,” the Blue Bloods actor raved to Us Weekly in November 2019. “She’s a great partner, and to simplify it, having someone to build traditions with my children and it being Jenny is probably the thing I’m most grateful for.”

“Now our kids are seeing through both rusty and single parents and the struggles we had early on and past relationships,” Donnie reflected. “Now to see us building traditions and building this family together—it’s something truly to be grateful for. Our kids can see what that looks like and pass it on to their kids. So it’s something to truly be grateful for.”
