When Eva Mendes decided to become a stay-at-home mom for her two daughters, it wasn’t a tough decision. The Hollywood star made the call with ease, knowing she was incredibly fortunate to have the time to focus on her family. In a candid interview on "Today" earlier this year, she opened up about her choice.

“It was like a no-brainer,” Mendes exclaimed, her voice filled with conviction. “I’m so lucky if I could have this precious time with my children. It’s something I’ll never take for granted.”

At the age of 50, Eva shares daughters Esmeralda and Amada with her partner, Ryan Gosling. After welcoming her two children, the actress, known for her role in "Hitch," decided to step back from her acting career. Her last appearance on the big screen was in the 2014 film Lost River.

  • “It was almost like a silent agreement between Ryan and me,” Mendes recalled. “We both knew that he’d continue working while I’d take care of things at home. He went off to do his job, and he’s incredible at what he does. He worked hard, came home, and that’s just how it was. It felt natural.”

Ryan, now 43, recently earned an Oscar nomination for his outstanding performance as Ken in Barbie. At the 96th Academy Awards this month, he dazzled the audience with his rendition of the Oscar-nominated hit “I’m Just Ken.” Eva, who watched proudly from backstage, couldn’t help but express her support on social media.

“You took Ken all the way to the Oscars, RG,” she captioned an Instagram post from Ryan’s dressing room backstage. “Now come home; we need to put the kids to bed.”

When asked about her Oscars night post, Eva responded with a warm smile. “That’s what life is about, right? You go out there, give your best, and then you come home. Home is where the heart is, and that’s what we’ve built together.”

    Appreciating Ryan's Dedication

The We Own the Night star has been consistently in awe of Ryan’s work ethic since they began dating in 2011 after co-starring in The Place Beyond the Pines. “I’ve never witnessed anything like it,” she admitted. “His approach to work, his unwavering commitment to his craft, and his dedication to making everything as perfect as it can be — it’s truly inspiring. He wants the best for everyone involved, and that includes his co-stars. But guess what? There’s only one Ryan, so I kind of stopped acting after that.”

    New Ventures

Though she’s taken a step back from acting, Eva is gearing up for a new chapter in her career with the release of her debut children’s book, Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries, set to launch in September. “This book is inspired by our nightly routines with my daughters,” she shared. “It’s all about how Desi and Mami learn to face their fears, whether they’re hiding under the bed or lurking in their minds. It’s a story close to my heart, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.”
