Elton John may have bid a heartfelt farewell to touring, but the legendary "Rocket Man" singer is now channeling his energy into an array of exciting new ventures. With a world of opportunities ahead, Elton is diving into business projects that promise to keep him as busy as ever. Let’s take a closer look at what’s next for this iconic artist.
Elton John and David Furnish: The Creative Power Couple
Elton’s husband, David Furnish, recently opened up about their plans for the future at the 32nd annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscars viewing party. Speaking to The Sun, David revealed their interest in creating a catalog musical. He shared, “We’re always on the lookout for ideas that can bring something fresh and exciting to the table. If we decide to move forward, we want it to be innovative and truly different from anything else out there.”
A Rich Catalog, but Selective Choices
With a treasure trove of hits in their catalog, the couple is taking their time to ensure they find the right fit. David elaborated, “We’re open to any great ideas, and the catalog is certainly rich with potential. But at the moment, with two other musicals already in the works, we’re keeping our plates full.” It’s clear that both Elton and David are committed to delivering high-quality, groundbreaking projects.

Big Plans on the Horizon
Beyond the catalog musical, the dynamic duo has several other massive projects lined up. As David explained, “This year, we’re launching two stage musicals, releasing a documentary on Disney+, and opening a photo exhibition at the V&A in May. So, it’s safe to say things haven’t slowed down in the Furnish-John household.”
One of the upcoming musicals is inspired by the life of Tammy Faye Bakker, while the other offers a fresh twist on The Devil Wears Prada. Balancing these ambitious projects with family life, Elton, 76, and David, 61, are also devoted parents to their children, Zachary and Elijah.
Creative Energy and Family Time
In a recent interview with Extra, Elton shared his excitement about the upcoming projects. He noted, “We’re doing so much creatively — musicals and other ventures. I’m still very hands-on, running around with ideas. We’re spending more time with our kids, which is wonderful. Some of these projects have taken years to develop, and while they’re not quite ready yet, we’re committed to making them the best they can be. Patience is key, but the results will be worth it.”
Elton’s Health Update
David also provided an update on Elton’s health following knee replacement surgery earlier this year. He said, “Elton is doing incredibly well. He’s set to undergo another knee surgery in the coming weeks, and by summer, he’ll have two brand-new knees. It’s amazing to see how far he’s come.”

David expressed optimism about Elton’s recovery, saying, “I think you’ll see him breakdancing down the carpet next year. He’s determined to feel as good as new after years of facing health challenges.”
A Legendary Farewell
Elton wrapped up his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in July 2023, marking the end of an extraordinary chapter in his career. Reflecting on the experience, Elton said, “I’m still processing the reality of finishing the tour. It’s going to take time to fully sink in. I’ll miss the fans and their incredible support, which has been a source of inspiration throughout my career. Their love will stay with me forever.”
