In her post, Christie Brinkley shared some truly uplifting news: her basal cell carcinoma was caught early, thanks to vigilant medical care. "The good news for me is that we caught the cancer early," she wrote. "And I had amazing doctors who removed it and stitched me up to perfection, like a haute couture Dior gown." She went on to stress the importance of sun protection, saying, "For this old mermaid/gardener, I’ll be slathering on my SPF 30, reapplying as needed, wearing long sleeves, and donning a wide-brimmed hat."

Regular Check-Ups Are Essential
Christie didn’t stop at just sharing her diagnosis—she also imparted some sage advice for her followers. She emphasized the importance of regular total body check-ups, calling them a "MUST!" Interestingly, her cancer wasn’t discovered during her own medical appointment, but during one of her daughters'. Christie shares three children—Alexa Ray Joel with ex-husband Billy Joel, and Sailor Brinkley-Cook and Jack Brinkley-Cook with ex-husband Peter Cook.
“I was lucky to find mine because I was accompanying one of my daughters to her check-up,” Christie explained. “The doctor was meticulously examining each freckle with a magnifying glass. It wasn’t my appointment, so I wasn’t going to say anything, but at the very end, I asked if he could just take a quick look at a tiny dot I could feel while applying my foundation. He took one look and knew right away it needed a biopsy!”
Christie mentioned that the biopsy was done immediately, and she was incredibly fortunate to have such a thorough doctor by her side. "So, make your own good luck by scheduling that check-up appointment today," she urged her fans. "And slather up, my friends!"
A Family Affair: Christie’s Close Bond with Her Kids
