Hey there, TV fans! So, the latest CBS ratings are out, and they’re dropping some major surprises. CBS just released their live +35 multiplatform viewing stats in a press statement on April 1, and guess what? The show 'Tracker,' starring the talented Justin Hartley, didn't top the list. Who would've thought, right? Let's dive deeper into what this means for the network and its audience.
Here's what CBS announced: "In the 2024-25 fall broadcast season so far, CBS shows continue to draw massive crowds with ten programs reaching 10 million or more multiplatform viewers across the network and Paramount+ within 35 days of viewing." That's right—ten shows are breaking records! Leading the pack are 'Watson' with 18.7 million viewers for its post-AFC Championship premiere episode, 'Tracker' with 18 million, and 'Matlock' with 15.8 million. But wait, there's more!
Other Hits Making Their Mark
Not to be outdone, other CBS originals are making waves too. 'NCIS: Origins' pulled in 9.1 million viewers, '60 Minutes' gathered 9.2 million, and 'Survivor' brought in an impressive 7.9 million. New shows like 'Watson' (+82%), 'Matlock' (+51%), and the number one new unscripted series of the season, 'Hollywood Squares' (+96%), are showing significant growth compared to their previous seasons. These numbers prove that CBS is still a powerhouse in the world of entertainment.

Meet Dr. John Watson: The Man Behind the Stethoscope
Now, let's talk about the man at the center of the medical drama 'Watson.' Played by the incredibly talented Morris Chestnut, Dr. John Watson resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic specializing in rare disorders. It's been six months since the tragic death of his friend and partner, Sherlock Holmes, at the hands of the infamous Moriarty. Watson's journey is one of healing and discovery, as he navigates the complexities of his new role while coping with the loss of a dear friend.
And here's some exciting news for fans of 'Watson'! On March 26, it was announced that the show has been renewed for a second season. Morris, who's been in the industry for over two decades, took to Instagram to express his gratitude. In a heartfelt video posted on March 27, he said, "I just wanted to come on here real quick and say thank you so much to everybody who supported and watched the show. Our cast, our crew, the writers, everybody involved worked crazy hard to make sure to bring you the best entertainment possible."

Morris went on to thank the studio for their unwavering support but emphasized that none of this would have been possible without the fans. "The studio gave us so much unwavering support but none of this would have happened without you, the fans, supporting and watching the show," he said. "Watson season 2! We’re going to do our very best to bring a bigger, stronger, faster, more entertaining season again next year."
Fans are thrilled with the first season of 'Watson' and are eagerly awaiting what's in store for the next chapter.
Inside the Mind of Dr. Watson
According to Morris, Dr. Watson is driven by a desire to see his patients thrive. "What excites him more than anything is solving a mystery," Morris shared with TV Insider in January. "He can’t take anyone at face value. He’s always picking out something intriguing. But he had a traumatic brain injury [sustained trying to save Holmes] and he’s being affected by his medication. He can’t trust everyone around him."
Morris also revealed that he's a huge fan of the 'Sherlock Holmes' novels. "I was. Craig Sweeny, the showrunner and creator [who also created the Sherlock-verse series 'Elementary'] is well read in the mythology. I read a couple of stories years ago prior to this and have seen movies and TV projects," he explained. "Understanding the motivations of the characters in the story really helped me in my approach to certain scenes with certain characters. [What I took away] was mainly a study of their relationship. Watson is brilliant and saw Sherlock as someone higher than him. He wanted to learn from him, be like him."
