In a lively Instagram video, Charo shows off her impressive agility by hopping up and down with arms outstretched, balancing gracefully on one foot by her pool. Dressed in shorts, the vivacious performer challenges her followers with an enthusiastic jump and twist routine set to upbeat music. "Can you do it?" she playfully asks, adding, "I challenge you!"

It's hard to believe this vibrant entertainer recently turned 73. Born in Spain, Charo continues to captivate audiences with her timeless charm and energy. She first charmed America in the 1970s with her unique accent, striking figure, and signature "cuchi cuchi" dance moves. Speaking exclusively to Closer, Charo reveals, "I am faster and stronger than when I was a little cuchi cuchi. The key is to always strive for improvement." Her youthful spirit remains as vibrant as ever.

While Charo admits she isn't thrilled about another year passing, she acknowledges that staying healthy and happy is far better than the alternative. "It's wonderful to celebrate another year of life," she says. One of her goals this year is to slow down and embrace mindfulness. "Instead of trying to do a thousand things at once, I want to focus more on what truly matters," she explains. "I'm dedicating more time to the people I love, whether it's my friends or family, while also maintaining my physical well-being."

  • Charo, who can still fit into a jumpsuit her sister sewed for her decades ago, attributes her incredible figure to a strict vegetarian diet. "I eat everything that's green," she says with a laugh. "Some people think I'm a vampire because I don't seem to age. But no, I'm not a vampire. It's probably good DNA from both sides of my family. Plus, I avoid cholesterol, greasy food, and meat altogether."

Exercise is also a crucial part of her daily routine. Whether it's a brisk jog around her neighborhood or a quick session on the treadmill in her garage, Charo ensures she stays active. "I love running where the wind or cold weather hits my face," she says. "It's important to move every day, keep your heart pumping, and stay active. Don't let a single day go by without some form of exercise."

    Embracing Life After Loss

Since the passing of her husband and manager, Kjell Rasten, in 2019, Charo has faced significant changes in her life. "Music and guitar have always been my passion, but I was slow to take over the business side of things," she admits. "It was overwhelming at first, but I've learned to manage my life in a way that makes me happy. Entertainment, friendship, and music are what truly matter to me now."

When it comes to dating, Charo is content with her current situation. "No one can ever replace my husband. He was the love of my life," she says with heartfelt emotion. "I was incredibly fortunate to find my dream man. When you lose that kind of love, it's impossible to move on. It wouldn't be fair to any other man because you'd always be comparing."

    Connecting with Fans

Charo enjoys sharing her life with fans through social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram. Her YouTube channel showcases her incredible talent as a flamenco guitarist, while her Instagram posts offer a glimpse into her daily life, cooking adventures, and fitness routines. "I've been lucky to connect with people all over the world," she says. "Of course, there are always going to be negative comments, but it's important not to take them too seriously."

Music remains her greatest joy, and she's excited about recording a powerful new album later this year. Charo continues to entertain audiences with her unique blend of music and comedy during live performances. On March 9, she'll grace the stage at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, California. "Always stay positive," Charo advises. "Remember, tomorrow can always be better."
