Hoda Kotb's Unique Take on Hosting Guests
Let me tell you something about Hoda Kotb. She’s got a fresh, exciting approach to hosting guests in her shiny new home. The beloved Today cohost invited none other than Savannah Guthrie and her entire family over for a quick visit. Now, quick in this case? We’re talking about a 30-minute stop. Imagine that—just enough time to make a great impression, but not so much that it feels overwhelming.
Hoda, who’s 60 years old, shared the details with her Today costar, Jenna Bush Hager, during an episode aired on Monday, September 16. “Savannah gets it,” Hoda explained with a laugh. “She was like, ‘We’re coming, we’re going.’ And that’s exactly what happened. They walked in, grabbed some cupcakes, did a quick tour, and the kids played on the swings for a solid ten minutes. It was a whirlwind, but it was fun!”
Savannah Guthrie's Family Visit
Savannah, who’s 52, didn’t come alone. She brought along her husband, Mike Feldman, and their two adorable kids, Vale and Charley. This visit wasn’t just a casual drop-by; it was a chance for Savannah to see Hoda’s new suburban digs. Jenna, who’s 42, couldn’t help but chime in with her own take on the visit. “I was there for three minutes,” she joked. “So 30 minutes might as well be a weekend getaway!”

Hoda’s Daughters Get Involved
While the visit with Savannah was brief, it was a big deal for Hoda’s daughters, Haley and Hope. They were absolutely thrilled about hosting guests for the first time. Their excitement wasn’t just about seeing Savannah and her family; it was also about creating a memorable experience for everyone. The girls were especially eager to set up a snack spread before Savannah and her crew arrived.
“Hope started filling random bowls with carrots and blueberries,” Hoda recounted with a chuckle. “She was just going to leave them out like that. But Haley, who’s 7, had other ideas. ‘No! That’s not right,’ she said. And guess what? They ended up putting all the fruit and veggies in the freezer for some reason. Jenna quipped, ‘Looks like entertaining is a new adventure for you!’”
Cupcakes to the Rescue
In the end, Hoda decided to serve cupcakes that one of her thoughtful neighbors had brought over to welcome her to the neighborhood. “The box was so big, I just shoved it in the oven and forgot about it,” she admitted with a laugh. “But guess what we served? Cupcakes, of course! The kids were thrilled. We plated them nicely, made some lemonade, and Hope even added mint for a fancy touch. It was a small but delightful spread.”

Welcoming Neighbors with Open Arms
Hoda also shared a heartwarming story about another neighbor who stopped by to introduce herself. “A woman came over with a pie in hand,” Hoda said. “She told me she lives across the street and has a daughter in my high school. You know what I did? I said, ‘Come inside!’ It’s all about building connections in this new neighborhood.”
New Beginnings in the Suburbs
Hoda highlighted one of the biggest differences between her former NYC apartment and her new suburban home. “Our front door is always open. It’s just a screen,” she said. “Back in NYC, I used to panic every time someone rang the doorbell. Now, it’s all about welcoming people in.”
Hoda previously mentioned on Today that her daughters were overjoyed to have their own rooms in their new home. “They’re so excited about having their own space, complete with reading chairs, bean bags, and cozy beds,” she shared. “It’s all about making the house feel warm and inviting for them.”

The author of Hope Is a Rainbow is eager to create new memories with her kids in their new neighborhood. “It’s all new—new kids, new school, new everything,” she said. “And honestly, all I want is for my house to be a place where the kids feel comfortable, cozy, and happy to hang out. That’s the goal.”
