Let’s talk about Blake Shelton, folks. The country music legend has dropped some hints that he might not be done with The Voice just yet. But here’s the catch—he’s only considering a return if one very specific condition is met. And no, it’s not about money or fame. It’s all about nostalgia and bringing back the OG crew.
Blake’s Take on a Possible Comeback
“If they were ever able to put together the original four coaches again, maybe [I’d return] for one season, a one-off,” Blake revealed to Entertainment Tonight on April 17. “That would be fun for me … That would be something I would be interested in doing.” Now, that’s what I call a heartfelt sentiment. Blake isn’t just thinking about himself here; he’s dreaming of reuniting with the people who made those early seasons so special.
Who Were Those Original Four Coaches?
Let’s rewind for a moment. Back in the day, Blake was part of an iconic lineup that included Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green. These four formed the backbone of the show’s first season, and their chemistry was off the charts. Over the years, the series has brought in fresh faces like Nick Jonas, Reba McEntire, and Kelly Clarkson to shake things up, but there’s something undeniably magical about the original squad.

Blake, now 47, admits he misses the camaraderie and connection he had with those early days. “I miss the people. I mean, those people became like family to me, literally from the crew all up to the producers of the show. I was with them more than I was with my family … I miss that,” he confessed. Can you blame him? That level of bond doesn’t come around every day.
Why Blake Left the Show
But here’s the thing: while Blake misses the people, he doesn’t miss the grind of being a coach. “I don’t miss the job at all,” he said frankly. As someone who’s been in the industry for years, Blake knows when it’s time to step back and recharge. “The second I started feeling like, ‘Oh my gosh, I don’t even remember what season this is anymore. Who are the coaches on this season?’ [I knew that] I needed [to get] away from here,” he explained. It’s all about recognizing your limits and knowing when to hit pause.
Love Blossoms on the Set of The Voice
Of course, one of the coolest things about Blake’s time on The Voice is how it led him to his now-wife, Gwen Stefani. “The first season she was on The Voice we met [but] we really didn’t talk that much,” Blake reminisced. “If you would’ve told me the first season that we met that what was gonna happen, I would’ve been like, ‘No, we actually don’t even have anything to even talk about. What are you talking about?’ It’s crazy how things work out.”
And boy, did they work out. Blake and Gwen tied the knot in 2021 after six years of dating. Today, Blake plays the role of a devoted stepdad to Gwen’s three sons—Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo—whom she shares with her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale. Parenthood has certainly given Blake a new perspective. “Next month, we’ve got an 18-year-old, which it blows my mind that already happened,” he said. “And in a couple of years, we’ll have another 18-year-old. And that’s … it’s gonna be I guess a lot more alone time, which I’m not mad about that either.”
