Back in 1990, Warren Beatty was on the hunt for the perfect actress to play Tess Truehart in his film Dick Tracy. Guess who he had in mind? That's right—Annette Bening. But here's the twist: she actually backed out of a meeting with him about the role. At that point, she was still married to her first husband, J. Steven White.
Warren later revealed why Annette didn’t show up for that meeting. "I asked why, and I was told that her ex-husband had a problem in New York, and she went to see if she was needed at all," he told Entertainment Weekly in 2016. He was clearly impressed by her loyalty. "I was impressed with whoever that was," he added.
