When it comes to home sweet home, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have found their perfect haven with their kids, Archie and Lilibet. Since their first official connection in 2016, the couple has lived in several iconic properties, each offering its own charm. From cozy cottages to sprawling mansions, their real estate journey is nothing short of impressive!

Starting Off Together: Nottingham Cottage

Back in 2017, after they began their romance, Harry and Meghan moved into Nottingham Cottage, which was originally Harry's bachelor pad. Nestled on the grounds of Kensington Palace, this two-bedroom estate served as the couple's first shared home. It was here that their love story blossomed, laying the foundation for what was to come.

Nottingham Cottage is a charming place with a luxurious bathroom, two reception rooms, a lush kitchen, and a spacious living area. Outside, the garden is breathtaking. It was here, in the North garden, that Harry, with the blessing of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, proposed to Meghan. He made the moment magical by decorating the area with candles and flowers, creating an ambiance reminiscent of Botswana, where he first thought of proposing.

Building a Life Together: Frogmore Cottage

Fast forward to May 2018, and Harry and Meghan tied the knot in a dazzling royal wedding. By October 2018, they were ready to expand their family.

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” Kensington Palace announced in a joyful statement.

Just before the arrival of their first child, Harry and Meghan moved into Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate. Their son, Archie, was born in May 2019. This residence offers a cozy setup with four to five bedrooms, including a nursery, making it an ideal home for their growing family.

“Windsor is a very special place for Their Royal Highnesses and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate,” Kensington Palace shared in a statement.

Stepping Back: A New Chapter in Canada

In January 2020, Harry and Meghan made the bold decision to step back from their roles as senior members of the royal family. They wanted to create a balance between tradition and their new journey.

  • “This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity,” they explained in a statement.

After this announcement, the couple spent time in Canada with Archie, enjoying a peaceful and private life. Harry fondly recalls their time there in his memoir, Spare.

“From morning to night we didn’t have to give a thought to being ambushed. The house was right on the edge of a sparkling green forest, with big gardens where Archie and the dogs could play and it was nearly surrounded by the clean, cold sea,” Harry wrote.

However, their stay was cut short due to security concerns after their location was exposed by the tabloids.

“And at that moment, our location was exposed. We knew our security was being pulled. Everyone in the world knew where we were, so we weren’t gonna be safe there,” Meghan explained in the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan.

Settling Down: A Dream Home in Montecito

In the summer of 2020, Harry and Meghan found their dream home in the exclusive Montecito neighborhood of California, purchasing a luxurious mansion for $14 million. This stunning property features nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, offering ample space for their family of four. Their daughter, Lilibet, was born in June 2021, adding another joyful chapter to their lives.

A New Chapter: The U.S. as Home

Four years after moving to Montecito, Harry officially listed the U.S. as his home country in a U.K. regulatory filing. The document reads, “New country/State Usually Resident: United States.” This update came just two months after Harry expressed interest in pursuing U.S. citizenship.
