Country Star Colt Ford Shares His Heart Attack Story

In a candid conversation on the Big D & Bubba radio show last month, country music star Colt Ford revealed his harrowing ordeal after suffering a heart attack on April 4. The 53-year-old musician shared that he "died two times" during this terrifying experience, offering fans a glimpse into the severity of the situation. It's moments like these that remind us how fragile life truly is, and Colt's story is nothing short of inspiring.

A Night to Remember, in a Different Way

Before the heart attack struck, Colt performed at Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row venue in Gilbert, Arizona, delivering a sold-out show that left the audience in awe. He later recounted, "I didn’t even remember coming out here to do a show in Phoenix, and apparently we played this great, sold-out show and it was incredible." Despite the unforgettable performance, the night took a dark turn shortly after.

After the show, Colt walked back to the bus and sent a simple text to his fiancée, Megan, saying, "Hi baby." The next thing he knew, he was falling unconscious. "I fell over dead," he recalled, emphasizing the suddenness of the event. It was a moment that could have ended tragically, but thanks to quick action, Colt was rushed to the hospital.

Once at the hospital, doctors realized they needed to transfer Colt to another facility for specialized care. "Bentley’s trauma team got me [to a second hospital]," Colt explained. "I died on the way over, but they brought me back and saved my life." The medical team worked tirelessly to stabilize him, showcasing the dedication and skill that saved Colt's life.

On April 10, Colt woke up in the hospital to the comforting presence of his fiancée, Megan, and his son, Colt Jr. However, the doctors were clear: he wasn't out of the woods just yet. "They put three stents in me and drained my gallbladder due to the trauma my body endured," he shared, highlighting the extent of his injuries and the intensive care he received.

    A New Perspective on Life

Experiencing such a close brush with death has profoundly changed Colt's outlook. "It's changed my perspective and outlook on lots of things," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "Live every day like it's your last because one day it will be." This message resonates deeply, reminding us all to cherish each moment and appreciate the time we have.
