According to a press release, the extended 90-minute premiere episode will delve into Mina’s challenging journey as she navigates a rocky home-buying process and renovates her serene lakeside retreat. Along the way, she’ll face tough decisions about her future. The subsequent two hour-long episodes will follow Karen as she tackles the renovation of a 120-year-old beach bungalow. With weather-related challenges threatening to derail the project mid-build, it’s shaping up to be a season full of surprises and drama.
This new season comes almost a year after Mina opened up during an episode of her “Mina AF” podcast about her strained relationship with her mom and brother, Tad Starsiak. In the months that followed, Mina continued to address the family rift, sharing her struggles with navigating the holidays amidst the tension. “I think kind of like towards the end of the show, when I was just feeling very crummy and angry and like not in a good place with a lot of things and a lot of people, I think that’s kind of how I started feeling going into the holidays and it wasn’t bringing out the best version of myself,” she explained during a January podcast episode. At the time, Mina admitted that she was still “not in a great place” with some family members, acknowledging the “weird tension and negative energy” between them.
