Let’s talk about Jaclyn Smith. This iconic actress isn’t just someone who sits back and relaxes. She’s all about staying busy and making the most of her life. During the pandemic, when so many of us were stuck inside, Jaclyn decided to give her home a complete makeover. "During COVID, we remodeled every single room in the house," she says about her beautiful Beverly Hills Georgian Colonial home, which she purchased way back in 1991. "We even added a fireplace and a porch." Oh, and let’s not forget the outdoor furniture—she used her very own Inside Out Performance upholstery fabric to make it all extra stylish.
Of course, Jaclyn’s career didn’t start with interior design. She became a household name in 1976 as the fearless private investigator Kelly Garrett on Charlie’s Angels. Even after the show ended, she didn’t slow down. Instead, she found an even bigger passion—building a celebrity brand. Now 78 years old, Jaclyn has reportedly amassed a fortune of $150 million. "I owe it all to Charlie’s Angels," she says. "It gave me the opportunity." But here’s the thing: Jaclyn wasn’t just another actress lending her name to products. No, she was the first to create her own line. "Everyone told me I shouldn’t do it," she admits, "but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made."
Before she became a TV star, Jaclyn grew up in Houston with dreams of becoming a dancer. But fate had other plans. Her stunning looks and those luscious dark waves of hair made her the perfect face for brands like Breck, Wella Balsam, and Max Factor. Those TV commercials eventually led to guest appearances on shows like McCloud and The Rookies, paving the way for her role on Charlie’s Angels. During the height of her fame, she admitted, "You tend not to have much of a personal life. You come home, eat dinner, study your lines, and go to sleep."

But Jaclyn never shied away from hard work. Her parents—a dentist and a mom who dreamed of designing fashion—instilled in her a strong work ethic and great taste. "I enjoy taking on different challenges," she says. "Work is what keeps me going."
A New Chapter: Building an Empire
Believe it or not, Jaclyn initially turned down an offer to develop a clothing line for Kmart in the mid-1980s. "I didn’t shop at Kmart," she confesses. "Designing for the mass market seemed overwhelming." But eventually, she decided to take the leap. "My advice is to embrace fear and step into the unknown," she says. "That’s where the real opportunities lie." And boy, was she right. She has no regrets about that decision.
Her first collection of women’s apparel hit stores in 1985. At the time, Jaclyn was a new mom to son Gaston, now 42, and daughter Spencer, now 38. Balancing work and family wasn’t easy, but she made it work. "My family always comes first," she insists. "But my work is exciting and fulfilling, too."

Building a Life with Brad Allen
Today, Jaclyn’s empire spans clothing, perfume, a fabric collection, wigs, and even a skincare line she created with her husband, Brad Allen. "I trust Brad completely," she says. "He took the beauty line to another level." The couple met when Brad, a heart surgeon, operated on Jaclyn’s father. "My mom didn’t want me walking to the parking garage alone, so Brad would walk me down," she recalls. Their romance blossomed, and they dated for seven years before tying the knot in 1997.
What makes their relationship so special? "We share similar values and upbringings," Jaclyn explains. "Spiritually, we think alike. Brad is kind-hearted and has a purity of spirit." And here’s the kicker: Brad isn’t threatened by Jaclyn’s success. "He’s very low-key and lets me be myself," she says. "We’re a great match, and neither of us cares who earns more. He has his career, and I have mine."
Brad has been there for Jaclyn through thick and thin, including when she battled breast cancer in 2002. She underwent a successful lumpectomy and radiation. "Cancer affects everyone in the family, not just the person going through treatment," she reflects.

Now, Jaclyn enjoys her life to the fullest. She’s healthy, her business keeps her creatively fulfilled, and she’s surrounded by a loving family. Both of her children are married, and she’s the proud grandmother of three adorable granddaughters. "I love spoiling them!" she says. For granddaughter Wren’s first birthday, Jaclyn brought miniature ponies to the party. Last March, she even took daughter Spencer and granddaughter Bea on a memorable trip to India with Brad. "We love to travel and explore new places," she says.
Recently, Jaclyn’s been sharing her latest designs on Instagram. "I’m thrilled to show this collection to my loyal customers who’ve grown up with me," she says. "Some people ask, ‘Why don’t you relax and spend more time with your grandkids?’ But I’m at my best when I’m working. Family will always be my top priority, but somehow, I manage to make it all work."
