Now that Tom Selleck has wrapped up filming for Season 14 of Blue Bloods, fans are wondering what's next for the legendary actor. Specifically, they're asking: Will he bring back one of his most iconic characters, Jesse Stone? Since finishing the summer shoot for the long-running CBS drama, Tom’s schedule has opened up a bit, and everyone's curious to see if he'll return to the role that made him a household name again.
Tom Opens Up About Bringing Back Jesse Stone
Back on December 6, during an interview with Parade, Tom Selleck, now 79, was asked directly about the possibility of another Jesse Stone movie. This character, which he first brought to life in 2005, has become a favorite among fans, spanning nine films over the years. Tom admitted that while he hasn’t started working on it yet, the idea is definitely on his radar.
“It would be quite the challenge,” Tom confessed. “Jesse is older now, and there’s been a good number of years since the last film. That said, it doesn’t mean he’s not still a compelling character. In fact, wherever I go, people always ask me, ‘When can we see another Jesse Stone?’ It’s clear that this character resonates deeply with audiences, and I think exploring where Jesse is now could be a really fascinating journey.”

Where Did Jesse Stone Leave Off?
The last time we saw Tom as Jesse Stone was in the 2015 movie Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise. Over the past decade, fans have been clamoring for more. While Tom has been busy portraying Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods since 2010, the demand for another Jesse Stone movie hasn’t faded one bit. The character has a timeless appeal, and fans are eager to see how Jesse’s story continues in today’s world.
Before the second half of Season 14 of Blue Bloods aired, Tom was asked about the possibility of reviving Jesse Stone once more. He told TV Insider in October that he might have to take the reins himself and write a new script. “It wouldn’t be the final chapter,” Tom emphasized. “Everyone loves Jesse, and it would be thrilling to see where he is after all these years. But first, I need to take a breath and figure out what’s next. As long as the phone keeps ringing, I’ll keep working.”

Saying Goodbye to Blue Bloods
Of course, saying goodbye to Blue Bloods hasn’t been easy for Tom or the rest of the Reagan family. But fans are in luck because two more episodes of the beloved police procedural drama are on the way, promising a fitting conclusion to the series.
“It’s been an emotional process,” Tom shared during Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy on November 29. “Working on the show for 14 years, it becomes a big part of your life. I truly miss my Blue Bloods family. It’s been a remarkable journey.”
Fans have taken to social media to express their love for the show and even hope for its continuation. “I need this show to go on forever,” one fan commented on the official Instagram page. “Please save Blue Bloods; it’s a fantastic program,” another fan pleaded.
“Please!!! Please allow someone to pick up the series or please bring it back! It is and has been a family we all have loved, cried with, learned from, laughed with, and grown with! Please!” one passionate fan wrote. “Blue Bloods has been life-changing for me, and I know it’s had a similar impact on so many others. It highlights the importance of first responder families, like mine, in New York, and the concept of family, which is so crucial today. Please please!”
