Marie Osmond has stepped forward to share her raw emotions and cherished memories after the passing of her brother Wayne Osmond. In an emotional post on her Instagram page on January 8, 2025, the iconic singer and performer paid tribute to her late sibling, who tragically passed away on January 1, 2025, at the age of 73 after suffering a massive stroke. Her words are a reminder of the deep bond they shared and the profound impact his life had on those around him.
Marie, who has taken a break from social media for the past nine months, explained why she decided to unplug during such a difficult time. "I’ve been away from social media, focusing on what truly matters—family and reflection," she wrote alongside a heartfelt photo of her and Wayne. "Just a few weeks ago, I felt this strong urge to visit Wayne. So, I hopped in the car and drove to see him. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Those hours we spent together are now some of the most precious memories I have. I had no idea that just days later, he would suffer a devastating stroke. Life can change in an instant, and I’m so grateful I listened to my heart that day."
Why Marie Waited to Share Her Story
Marie, now 65, revealed why she held off on speaking publicly about her brother’s passing. "It’s been hard to put into words just how much Wayne meant to me," she admitted. "I wanted to honor him in a way that truly reflects the incredible man he was. He wasn’t just a successful entertainer, musician, and songwriter; he was also one of the kindest, most loving people I’ve ever known. To me, Wayne was a safe haven, a source of wisdom, and someone who always knew how to make me laugh, even in the darkest moments."

A Life Well-Lived
Marie shared that Wayne’s legacy extends far beyond his professional achievements. "Sure, Wayne had an illustrious career, but his real magic was in the way he lived his life," she said. "He radiated joy, and he had this unique ability to make anyone feel seen and valued. Whether we were cracking jokes or diving into deep conversations about life and faith, Wayne always left me feeling uplifted. He was my rock, my confidant, and my biggest cheerleader. Losing him has left a gaping hole in my heart, but his love will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know him."
Wayne’s Devotion to Family
Marie went on to highlight Wayne’s unwavering commitment to his family. "Wayne loved deeply, and he poured that love into everything he did," she added. "His wife, Kathy, was the light of his life. He adored her with every fiber of his being, and their partnership was a true testament to love and devotion. Wayne was also a proud father to his five children and a doting grandfather. He never stopped talking about them. They were his pride and joy, and I know they’ll carry his legacy forward with grace and strength."

Wayne, who shared five children with his beloved wife Kathlyn White Osmond, was not only a devoted family man but also a deeply spiritual individual. "I admired Wayne for his profound love and loyalty to God and His Son, Jesus Christ," Marie continued. "He was a proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and his faith was the guiding light of his life. He inspired so many with his testimony of God’s plan for us. If you have a chance, listen to ‘The Plan,’ one of his favorite albums created by my brothers. It’s a beautiful testament to his beliefs and values."
A Final Message to Her Brother
Marie concluded her tribute with a deeply personal message to Wayne. "If I could tell him anything right now, it would be this: ‘Wayne, I couldn’t cherish the gift of being loved by you more. You were my true, loving brother, and I will miss you more than words can express. I testify with every ounce of my heart and soul that my love for you is eternal. Until we meet again.’"
In addition to honoring Wayne, Marie extended her thoughts and prayers to others dealing with loss. "I know so many of you understand the pain of losing someone you love," she said. "My heart goes out to all of you, especially those affected by the devastating fires in California. May you find comfort in knowing that love never fades, even when the person we love is no longer with us."
