Back in 2019, Kathie Lee left the Today show and moved to Nashville, Tennessee. That's where she met Richard, who's 64 years old. However, it wasn't until two years later that she confirmed they were officially dating. During an April 2021 appearance on Today With Hoda and Jenna, she said, "I have a very sweet man in my life. He’s good for me, and I’m good for him. And that’s all that I’ll say about it, because there’s nothing else to talk about." Unfortunately, things didn't work out, and earlier this year, she revealed that they had parted ways.
Kathie Lee shared her thoughts on relationships and joy with People in an article published on April 25. She said, "My new mantra is that my joy is non-negotiable. I’ll negotiate time. I’ll negotiate money with you. But my joy, I can’t. I was in a relationship for several years that just ended recently, and it’s always hard because when you love someone, you love them deeply. It’s something you miss when it doesn’t last." A few months after their split, Kathie underwent hip replacement surgery, describing it as "one of the most painful situations of my entire life." And I was off my walker in two days. I was off all my medications in three days, and then I did too much. I just did too much because that’s who I am." She continued, "I started carrying books around and signing and getting ready, and my grandchildren came to visit. And you can’t. I have learned from this that you can only do so much. You’re just human. You’re just human. And I’m so grateful." It's an inspiring journey of self-acceptance and resilience.
