Hey there, fans of The Voice! If you're wondering why John Legend isn't back on the show for its 26th season, you're not alone. The talented singer-songwriter recently revealed why he won't be taking his seat on the judging panel this time around. Let's dive into what he had to say.
John Legend Shares His Plans
In a candid chat with Entertainment Tonight, John opened up about his decision to take a break from the hit singing competition. "Look, we've always got a lot going on. I've got a packed summer ahead with tons of shows, and I'll even be traveling overseas," he explained. "I'll be back... if only I were actually planning to take a break!"
A New Season, A New Lineup
As John steps aside, The Voice is welcoming a fresh batch of coaches to shake things up. Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé are stepping in to guide contestants through the next season. That means Chance the Rapper and Dan + Shay, who were previously on board, will also be sitting this one out.

Now, you might be wondering how this new lineup will change the vibe of the show. John himself is thrilled about the fresh faces coming in. "It's so exciting to bring new people into the The Voice family," he said. "Having Snoop as a coach instead of just a mentor? That's going to bring a whole new level of fun to the show and really reinvigorate it."
Keeping the Show Fresh
With 25 seasons under its belt, The Voice has built a reputation for staying fresh and exciting. John credits part of that success to the ever-changing roster of coaches. "We've been around for a long time, and one of the reasons we stay relevant is by introducing new coaches," he explained. "Michael and Snoop are going to bring something special to the table, and I'm so glad Gwen and Reba are back. They're both incredible coaches."

Recently, John got the chance to bring his two eldest kids, Luna and Miles, to the The Voice set. "My favorite coaching advisors joined me for the first night of #TheVoiceLives!" he joked on Instagram, sharing a picture of his kiddos lounging in his iconic red coaching chair. "They loved it. They had a blast," he said. "Their favorite contestant? Nathan Chester, of course. I think my team did great with my favorite advisors."
John shares four children with his wife, Chrissy Teigen—Luna, 8; Miles, 5; Esti, and Wren. He first joined The Voice in season 16, where he famously mentored Maelyn Jarmon to victory. Prior to that, he served as an advisor in season 12.
