There’s nothing quite like a good embarrassing story, and Jenna Bush Hager has delivered plenty of those to the Today show audience over the years. But this particular anecdote might just be the funniest yet! Jenna, now 43, was chatting with her co-host Hoda Kotb about that awkward moment when you're the last guest left at a gathering and the host is ready for you to leave... but isn't quite saying it.
When the Party’s Over, but You’re Still There
Jenna and Hoda, 60, were laughing about how sometimes people just don’t know when it's time to call it a night. "If you're the last one standing, which I've totally been, you might leave in a pretty odd way," Jenna explained. Hoda chimed in with her own experience: "Sometimes the host is like, 'Alrighty then, OK.' And then some guests start doing the dishes, saying, 'Oh, I’ve got a lot to clean up.' But guess what? Some people still don’t get the hint!"
That Time Jenna Overstayed Her Welcome
This conversation sparked Jenna's memory of a time when she may have overstayed her welcome at co-host Savannah Guthrie’s house. "Wait, did I ever tell you— I hope I did, but if not, you’re going to love this," Jenna said with a laugh. She recounted the time when Savannah's husband, Mike Feldman, wanted her to leave so badly that he resorted to vacuuming around her feet. "He wasn’t exactly subtle about it," Jenna admitted. "He was vacuuming around my feet, and I was like, 'Mike, if you're ready for me to go, I’m ready to go!'"

The Takeaway: Know When to Leave
After sharing the story, Jenna and Hoda reflected on the importance of knowing when it’s time to call it a night. Jenna joked, "If you stay too late, there’s always the possibility of danger." She referenced her mom’s wisdom: "As my mom always says, nothing good happens after midnight." Jenna even shared a funny personal story about losing two teeth in party-related mishaps. "Well, injured two teeth," she clarified with a laugh.
But Jenna’s willingness to share these personal stories doesn’t stop there. During a July episode of Today, she opened up about becoming a mom for the first time and whether she could ever love anything as much as her beloved cat, Bernadette. "This is gonna sound crazy," Jenna admitted, "but could I ever love anything as much as my cat? I remember saying this to my friend Crystal, who you can call and ask her." Crystal, Jenna's only friend with a child at the time, replied, "Jenna, your heart has room. But also, it’s hilarious that you think your cat is gonna compare!"
Hoda playfully joked, "That speaks volumes about you and your cat relationships. I didn’t know it was like that." Jenna then turned the conversation to Hoda, asking her opinion on whether it’s possible to love multiple children. Hoda, who adopted daughters Haley and Hope during her relationship with Joel Schiffman, shared her thoughts: "I so wanted a child for so long that I didn’t realize at first, but your heart’s ability to expand is beyond measure. There’s always room for more love, whether it’s a puppy, another friend, or another child. You just have to decide if you have the space and time for it."
