Over a Decade of Dedication

On January 10, Hoda Kotb will bid farewell to the Today show after more than a decade as a beloved host. At 60 years old, Hoda is stepping into a new phase of her life, ready to explore fresh opportunities and experiences. As a mother of two, she’s learned that change isn’t just about professional growth—it’s also about personal fulfillment.

Reflecting on her decision, Hoda shared, “It’s like imagining what it would feel like to hold someone’s hand in a new relationship or how it would feel to take on a new job. You have to picture yourself in that new environment, thriving and happy. It’s almost like envisioning what your life would be like when you repot a plant or start over in some way.”

A Farewell Celebration Like No Other

Hoda’s final episode of Today will feature a live audience, and tickets sold out within minutes of going on sale. Fans from all over are eager to celebrate her incredible career and send her off in style. “I wish I could tell everyone to grab a ticket, but they were gone in six minutes!” joked Seth Meyers during Hoda’s appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers in December 2024.

Announcing her departure on September 26 was one of the hardest things Hoda has ever done, but her cohosts and colleagues have been nothing but supportive. “This is a big leap for me, but I’m surrounded by people who understand and respect my decision,” she said, expressing gratitude for the unwavering support of her Today family.

A New Chapter in the Suburbs

As Hoda prepares to leave the Today show, she’s also embracing a new lifestyle. She recently moved into a home in the suburbs outside of New York City, excited to immerse herself in her community. “I’ve realized I thrive when I’m surrounded by people,” Hoda revealed. “Whether it’s working out at a local gym or simply being part of the neighborhood, I find joy in connecting with others.”

Back in September 2024, Hoda took her daughters Haley, 7, and Hope, 5, to their first day of school in their new community. “Everything changed instantly,” she recalled. “A new town, a new school, and all these exciting new experiences. Walking my kids to school with a coffee in hand and sneakers on my feet—it was such a normal, beautiful moment.”

For Hoda, this moment was deeply meaningful. “Sometimes life throws you curveballs, and you miss out on certain things,” she explained. “But I decided I wasn’t going to let that happen this time. It was like being part of a little caravan of kids heading to school together. It was magical.”
