Why Eva Longoria and José Bastón’s Marriage Works
There’s something truly special about Eva Longoria and her husband, José Bastón. The Only Murders in the Building star recently shared some insights into what makes their relationship tick. Eva explained that the key to their successful marriage lies in their mutual support and understanding. “He makes me laugh, and he’s an incredible partner,” she told DailyMail.com. “He supports me in everything I do, and I do the same for him. There’s no competition between us for attention or the spotlight. It’s all about being there for each other.”
Eva’s Hollywood Glamour vs. José’s Low-Key Lifestyle
While Eva Longoria is a Hollywood icon, her husband José Bastón prefers to keep things simple and out of the public eye. “He loves it when I’m on the red carpet. It’s his favorite place for me to be, but honestly, it’s where he hates to be,” Eva revealed. “He’s more of a behind-the-scenes guy, and that’s what works so well for us. He doesn’t crave the spotlight like I do, and that balance is perfect.”
Additionally, José isn’t a fan of social media. “He absolutely hates Instagram,” Eva joked. “He’ll tell me, ‘Please don’t put me on your Instagram.’ That’s why you rarely see him on my social media. But every once in a while, I sneak him into a post. He’s my little secret weapon.”

A Family on the Move: Life in Spain and Mexico
Eva and José’s life isn’t just about their relationship—it’s also about raising their son, Santiago Enrique Bastón, who was born in June 2018. The couple, who tied the knot in 2016, has been sharing their time between Spain and Mexico, moving away from the United States. “I’ve spent my entire adult life in the U.S., but things have changed,” Eva explained to Marie Claire. “The vibe here isn’t what it used to be. The pandemic really shifted things, and now I feel like this chapter in my life is over. I’m lucky enough to have the option to move and explore new places with my family.”
She added, “I know not everyone has the privilege to leave, and I feel for those who are stuck in what feels like a dystopian reality. But for us, it’s been an incredible opportunity to embrace new cultures and experiences.”
A Look Back: Eva’s Previous Marriages
Before finding love with José, Eva was married twice. Her first marriage was to actor Tyler Christopher from 2002 to 2004, followed by a union with basketball star Tony Parker from 2007 to 2011. But it’s clear that her current relationship with José is the one that feels like home. “There’s a sense of peace and harmony in our marriage that I haven’t experienced before,” she said. “It’s about trust, laughter, and partnership.”
Santiago’s Global Upbringing
Eva and José have made sure their son, Santiago, grows up with a global perspective. “My son is incredibly cultured and loves traveling with us,” Eva shared with E! News. “This was the first year I didn’t bring him to the Cannes Film Festival, and he was like, ‘Mom, you’re going to the south of France without me?’ He’s become quite the little traveler.”
Santiago often joins Eva on set when she’s working, soaking in the culture of each new location. “If we’re in Spain, we all go to Spain. If we’re in Rome, we’re all in Rome. He’s learning so much about the world and different cultures,” Eva said during a June 20 appearance on Today. “He’ll ask me things like, ‘Can we have macaroons if we go to Paris?’ or ‘Can we eat jamón when we’re in Spain?’ It’s amazing to watch him grow up with such an appreciation for diversity and language.”
