Anna Faris doesn’t hesitate when it comes to making choices that benefit her son, Jack Pratt. Even though the former star of Mom juggles a busy career in Hollywood, her family always takes precedence. For Anna, being a mom is her top priority, and she’ll set aside everything else for her little one.
Since welcoming Jack into the world in 2012 with her ex-husband Chris Pratt, Anna has embraced motherhood with open arms. The Scary Movie actress admits her life changed drastically the moment her son entered the picture. “The moment you become a mom, your entire identity shifts,” Anna told the Huffington Post back in January 2016. “It’s like taking on the most important job in the world, and it comes with immense pressure, guilt, and so much more. No one can truly prepare you for what motherhood entails, even though they try. I wrestled with the question of ‘Who am I now?’ It felt like a tidal wave had hit me—there was life before the wave, and then there’s life after.”
A Journey Into Parenthood: Anna and Chris Pratt’s Son, Jack
On August 25, 2012, Anna and Chris welcomed their precious son, Jack Pratt, into the world. However, his arrival wasn’t without challenges. Jack was born prematurely, 10 weeks early, as Chris revealed during an interview with E! News in March 2020. “Anna went into labor at 30 weeks, and Jack faced some complications,” Chris explained. “He spent a month in intensive care, and it was a time filled with prayers, promises, and negotiations with God to save my son.”

Anna also shared her emotional experience in her 2017 memoir, Unqualified. “When you have a baby in the NICU, every parent wonders the same thing each day: ‘When can we take him home?’ That’s all families want to know, but the nurses always say, ‘We don’t know,’” she wrote. “Jack spent 3 1/2 weeks in the hospital because he couldn’t eat on his own. Watching him struggle, seeing nurses poking and prodding his tiny limbs, and dealing with diapers the size of a Kleenex was emotionally exhausting. It was a tough month filled with worry and heartache.”
Thankfully, Jack is thriving today. In her memoir, Anna gushes about her son: “Jack is at a wonderful age now. Sure, he has the occasional temper tantrum, but overall, he’s an amazing kid. He’s happy, loving, and always ready for a cuddle.”
Beyond his sweet nature, Jack has a knack for humor. “He’s such a ham,” Anna joked to the Huffington Post. “He keeps me laughing all the time.”
Anna’s role as a mother became even more significant when she and Chris called it quits in August 2017 after eight years of marriage. The House Bunny star transitioned from solo parenting to co-parenting with Chris, the Guardians of the Galaxy actor, in a way that prioritized their son’s well-being. Open communication has been the cornerstone of their relationship.
“There’s no rulebook for this, but we focus on love and friendship,” Anna told Women’s Health in April 2018. “Our main goal is to protect Jack. My family, my close friends, and my child mean everything to me, and that makes everything else worthwhile.”
Chris Pratt Expands His Family With Katherine Schwarzenegger
In the years since their separation, Anna and Chris have maintained a strong co-parenting relationship. Both have moved on to new chapters in their lives—Chris is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, while Anna is happily married to Mike Barrett, whom she secretly eloped with in July 2021, as revealed on her podcast, “Anna Faris Is Unqualified.”

Chris and Katherine have three children together: daughters Lyla and Eloise Christina, and son Ford, who was born in November 2024. “We are thrilled to announce the birth of our son, Ford Fitzgerald Schwarzenegger Pratt,” Chris and Katherine shared on Instagram. “Both mama and baby are doing well, and Ford’s siblings are excited about his arrival. We feel incredibly blessed and grateful.”
On her podcast, Anna discussed how co-parenting with Chris has been smoother than expected. “We’re fortunate because we’re both in loving relationships,” she said in 2019. “Chris and I work hard to co-parent because we have Jack. It’s all about the long-term goal of making sure Jack is happy, which makes us happy too.”
Jack Becomes a Loving Big Brother
Jack has formed a close bond with his half-sisters, Lyla and Eloise. In April 2021, Chris shared a rare photo of himself with Jack and Lyla snuggling up at home, showcasing their sweet sibling connection. The trio also took a stroll in California’s Pacific Palisades neighborhood a month earlier, holding hands as they walked together. Watching Jack embrace his role as a big brother is one reason Chris is eager to expand his family further.
“I’d love to have more kids—however many God provides,” Chris told E! News in July 2021. “We’ll make it happen. I’ll need to discuss it with Katherine, but my plan is to keep going.”
