At 73, she told Closer Weekly in an exclusive interview, "Kirk Douglas was admired by millions, and for good reason. He was Hollywood royalty in every sense of the word. Not only did he have an illustrious career, but he also had a beautiful family that he cherished deeply."
A Family Man Through and Through
Lucci went on to talk about Douglas’s relationship with his son, Michael Douglas. "I remember seeing them together at an award show," she said. "They seemed so close, and it was evident that Kirk took pride in his son's accomplishments. It wasn’t just Michael, though. I also recall seeing Catherine Zeta-Jones with Kirk, and she was nothing short of lovely with him. The Douglases truly seem like a real, loving family."

"It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103," Michael wrote on Instagram. "To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years. He was a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to."
But for Michael and his brothers, Kirk was simply Dad. "To Catherine [Zeta-Jones], a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great-grandchild, their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband," Michael continued.
