Drew Carey's Secret Wasn't So Secretive After All

Drew Carey Fooled Everyone on 'The Masked Singer' Except His Son

Here’s the scoop, folks: Drew Carey's big reveal on The Masked Singer might have come as a shock to many, but not to his son, Conner. In a candid chat with Entertainment Tonight after being eliminated from the show, Drew revealed that his ex-wife Nicole Jaracz and their son saw it coming from the get-go. "My kid texted me, and he’s 14, about to turn 15," Drew shared. "He sent me a text that said, 'What’s up, llama?' It was clear he had me pegged the moment I put on that costume."

Keeping the Secret: A Family Affair

Drew, the beloved host of The Price Is Right, confessed that keeping his participation in The Masked Singer a secret was no walk in the park. "I tried to keep it under wraps, but let’s be real—how do you hide something like this?" Drew joked. Even with his best efforts, Drew admitted it was tough. During a Super Bowl party, the constant barrage of ads for The Masked Singer made things tricky. "They were all like, 'Let's watch this show and see what it’s about!' I had to change the channel quick, saying, 'Oh, I don’t really like that show.' I knew if they saw me, they’d recognize me instantly."

Why Did People Miss the Clues?

Despite the challenges, Drew was surprisingly successful in keeping his involvement on the down-low. "It wasn’t that hard because, honestly, no one ever expected me to do the show," Drew explained. "So only a few people knew." It seems Drew’s unexpected appearance as The Llama threw everyone off the scent—except, of course, for his perceptive family.

While Drew wasn’t able to fool his family, Seal managed to pull off a truly spectacular surprise. The Grammy-winning singer competed on season two of The Masked Singer as the Leopard, and his kids were none the wiser. "Leopard wanted to do the show because he wanted to surprise his kids," explained Izzie Pick Ibarra, the showrunner and executive producer. "They still didn’t know it was him when the reveal aired." Seal’s entire motivation for joining the show was to make his kids laugh and leave them astonished. "I really wanted to send a camera to capture the moment his kids saw it was him, but unfortunately, that wasn’t possible for various reasons," Ibarra added.
