The beloved host of Jeopardy! has been deeply touched by the kindness of fans and colleagues alike. “I just want to say a huge thank you for all the cards, letters, and prayers,” the 79-year-old expressed during an interview with Closer Weekly at the 2020 ABC Winter Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour. “On Christmas Day, I took my family to the Lakers vs. Clippers game, and I went over to speak with the broadcasters. I had a heartwarming moment with Mike Breen, who leaned over and wished me luck. He told me, ‘Alex, there’s a tremendous power in prayer.’ It really moved me,” Trebek shared, his voice filled with emotion.

Trebek’s battle with cancer hasn’t slowed him down. Despite the challenges, he remains steadfast in his commitment to Jeopardy! "Being around these brilliant young minds on the show is incredibly inspiring," he said. "It gives me hope for the future. I’m encouraged by the contestants I meet and the young people I see making waves in the world. There’s this one young lady right now who’s shaking things up and challenging the status quo. It’s amazing to see young folks getting more involved, but honestly, they need to put those cell phones down every once in a while!" Trebek joked, adding a touch of humor to his heartfelt message.
