On a recent visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Reese Witherspoon wasn’t just there to chat about her Hulu series, Little Fires Everywhere. Oh no, the conversation took a fun twist when she couldn’t resist showing off a fresh dance routine her son, Deacon, had taught her.
Reese Witherspoon’s Dance Lessons from Her Teenager
“He’s taught me a lot, my teenager,” Reese beamed during the Monday, March 16 episode. The beloved TV host, Ellen DeGeneres, chimed in with a playful, “Has he?” to which Reese enthusiastically replied, “He has!” The Academy Award-winning actress, known for her role in Legally Blonde, couldn’t hide her excitement about her son’s newfound dance skills.

Deacon's Dance Moves
Ellen and Reese had a blast reminiscing about a video Reese had previously shared on social media, where her teenage son was seen coaching her on the dance craze, “The Woah.” This hit move became a sensation among kids nationwide, though its exact origins remain a bit of a mystery. Some trace it back to the vibrant Texas hip-hop scene.
Reese's TikTok Moment
“Let’s watch the TikTok of you doing ‘The Woah,’” Ellen suggested, sparking laughter and excitement. Moments later, a screen behind them lit up with the video of Reese, who shares Deacon and daughter Ava, 20, with ex Ryan Phillippe, and son Tennessee, 7, with husband Jim Toth. In the clip, Reese and her handsome son are seen trying to perfect the lively dance move.
After the video played, Reese couldn’t help but wonder aloud about her performance. “How am I doing, Twitch?” she asked, turning to Ellen’s studio DJ, Stephen Boss, better known as Twitch. “I’m getting better,” she teased. Twitch, ever the charmer, replied, “The spirit is fantastic.”
“My arm placement is bad?” Reese questioned, before playfully challenging Ellen to show her how it’s done. “Can you do ‘The Woah?’ Do you want to throw me your version of ‘The Woah?’”
When Reese and Ellen finally got their groove on together, the energy in the room was electric. The crowd erupted in applause, and Reese, ever the enthusiastic performer, cheered, “Yay!”

Teaching Deacon to Drive
While Reese is all ears when it comes to learning from her middle child, she recently opened up about the time she taught Deacon how to drive. On a September 2019 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the The Morning Show star joked about her son’s driving skills.
“Oh, God. God help us all,” Reese quipped, revealing the hilarious reason why she considers Deacon a better driver than herself. “He’s a good driver. I get distracted a lot because I see cute dogs.”
“I’m like, ‘Oh, I’ve got to pull over!’ I will literally pull over and get out of the car if it’s a bulldog. Only a bulldog,” she hilariously continued. “I’m very preferential to certain breeds … if it’s being walked by somebody and it’s really cute. There’s probably a lot of pictures in the world of me on the side of the road with dogs.”

We absolutely adore how much fun Reese has with her kids. Whether it’s dancing or driving, she’s clearly a mom who loves spending quality time with her family.
