As the world continues to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic, life has changed drastically for many families—including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. With the U.K. shifting to homeschooling, Kate Middleton and Prince William have made significant adjustments to their daily routines to keep their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—safe from the virus. It’s been a whirlwind of changes, but they’re handling it with grace and determination.
Protecting the Next Generation
“William and Kate are going the extra mile to shield George and Charlotte from potential exposure by keeping them away from other children,” a royal insider revealed to Closer Weekly on March 23. “The kids are definitely missing their friends and asking about them all the time, but they’ve got each other to lean on.” And with Louis growing older, the siblings now include him in their playdates and activities. “It’s heartwarming to see them bonding as a trio,” the source added.
Adapting to Online Learning
For Charlotte, 4, and George, 6, transitioning to online schooling has been challenging. Normally, Kate keeps a strict limit on screen time, so the adjustment to using iPads for classes has been a bit of a learning curve for everyone involved. “Kate and William usually restrict the kids’ use of electronics, including TV,” the insider explained. “But when it comes to quality online education, St. Thomas’ School in London is delivering top-notch instruction, so they’re making it work.”

A New Home Base
Instead of continuing their studies at Kensington Palace, the family opted for a safer environment at their countryside residence, Anmer Hall. “Kate, 38, and William, 37, relocated to Anmer early after Boris Johnson announced the U.K.’s lockdown,” the insider explained. “The kids are now being homeschooled from there.” This change means the family will likely stay at Anmer until after Easter, though Kate and William may occasionally travel to London for work-related duties. “Anmer will remain their primary base, ensuring the kids stay safe and protected,” the source noted.
Family Fun Amidst the Chaos
While practicing social distancing, Charlotte and George have found creative ways to keep themselves entertained. “Louis loves to sing and dance, much like his sister Charlotte,” the insider shared. “But they’re not the only musicians in the family. George is learning to play the guitar and piano, though Kate sometimes covers her ears when he gets too loud. She finds it amusing, though!” Who knows? Maybe little George will grow up to be the next big rock star!
Beyond his musical aspirations, George enjoys spending time with his siblings. “The trio loves playing board games like Snakes and Ladders, and hide-and-seek is one of their current favorites,” the source added. “It’s clear they’re finding joy in each other’s company during these challenging times.”

Busy Times for Kate and William
It’s not just about parenting duties; Kate and William are juggling their roles as public figures, too. “They’re working tirelessly to raise awareness and funds for the coronavirus cause,” the insider revealed. “With Queen Elizabeth now at Windsor Castle, the couple has stepped up to handle some of her responsibilities. Despite the added workload, they’re embracing it as valuable preparation for their future roles as King and Queen.”
