Meet Barbara Corcoran’s Children
When Barbara and Bill tied the knot in 1988, they were filled with dreams of starting a family. However, the road to parenthood was unexpectedly challenging. For years, they faced difficulties conceiving, which tested their patience and determination.
Barbara once shared her thoughts on the subject with Yahoo! Life in May 2023, saying, “I always assumed I could have as many children as I wanted. There was no deadline.” She added, “Most women, when they approach around 40, they start to panic. Not me. Because my mother and all of my sisters had children like they were rabbits—they pop them out.” But reality hit hard when she and Bill faced infertility issues.

The couple turned to in-vitro fertilization (IVF) in hopes of starting their family, but it wasn’t easy. They went through several unsuccessful treatments, which left Barbara feeling devastated. “For me, it was like a death knell, the idea that I couldn’t have children,” she admitted. “I messed around so long with my career and didn’t even try. It was absolutely devastating to me.”
Finally, with the help of an egg donated by one of Barbara’s sisters, they welcomed their first child, Tom, in 1994. Ten years later, they expanded their family by adopting their daughter, Kate. Barbara has shared glimpses of her life with Kate, including a heartfelt moment in October 2022 when they spent time exploring college options. “Where did the time go?” she captioned a sweet photo with her daughter.
Grandparenthood: A New Chapter
Barbara and Bill’s family grew even larger when their son, Tom, and his wife, Lia Higgins, welcomed their first child, Jackson. Barbara couldn’t be prouder of her grandchild. In an August 2023 Instagram post, she wrote, “Jackson has been the biggest blessing of our lives, and it’s a joy to see Lia and Tom being incredible parents. I’m one proud Nana!”

Barbara has always worn the badge of being an older mom with pride. She had her first child at 46 and her second at 56. In an August 2016 Facebook post, she wrote, “The most frequent compliment I get is ‘you have a lovely grandchild!’” Her response to critics who question her age? “I always say, ‘Do you know how lucky you are to have someone who’s so filled with so much knowledge on how to do kids right?’”
